Weekly Family Update # 18

December 13, 2020

Principal's Message

Hello Falcon Families,

I hope are enjoying a restful weekend. Only one more week until our Winter Break. Let’s finish strong!

A few Quick Announcements:

- The Adopt-a-Family event ends on Tuesday. Please consider helping a family in need living in our community this holiday season. More information can be found below.

- It’s an ASB spirit week! I look forward to seeing your Falcons participate.

- Please take a moment to complete the PUSD Reopening Reassessment for Middle and High School Families Survey. More information can be found below.

- School Picture proofs can be picked up this week. More detailed information is below.

This past Friday I was able to play "Are You Smarter Than The Principal?" with our 6th grade students during lunch. This event was hosted by our ASB students. Huge shout to all who participated. It was super fun and yes, I lost, ha-ha!

6th Grade Camp Update: In order to provide the safest environment possible, PUSD middle schools will not be participating in 6th Grade Camp this year. We understand the disappointment this may cause some families. We hope you understand our decision is based on safety and the well-being of each and every one of our students.

Reopening Update

Given the rapidly changing public health conditions, the District would like to gather updated data to inform recommendations to the School Board on secondary reopening plans. Even though we just completed our own separate Oak Valley reopening survey, the District has created a district-wide survey that was sent out to families with students in middle and high school last Friday. The purpose is to gather data from all families across the district keeping in mind the recent surge in COVID cases in our community and movement down to the purple tier. Please use this link to access the survey HERE. It must be completed by Tuesday December 15 at 5:00 pm. Thank you for your participation.

Thanks for all you do for our Oak Valley Community! Go Falcons!

Beaming with Falcon Pride,

Mr. Young

Reopening Survey - December Reassessment for Middle and High School Families

Reopening Survey - December Reassessment for Middle and High school Families

Dear PUSD families,

Please fill out this form, ONE for each child attending a PUSD middle or high school (except Abraxas). This survey is NOT for elementary families. We would like every middle and high school family to participate so we can gather the most accurate data. This is a District wide survey, and is separate from any survey you might have completed for your school. The data will be used to inform staff recommendations on reopening plans, which will be presented at the next Board of Education meeting on Thursday, December 17, 2020. Given the rapidly changing public health conditions and restrictions in San Diego County, we wanted families to have an ability to reassess their choices for their child's learning.

Please fill out the survey by Tuesday, December 15 at 5:00 pm.
