Welcome Back!
LCMS Families- Newsletter
LCMS Families,
I hope you all had a restful and enjoyable summer. We are getting excited for the new school year, and we can't wait for students to return. Many of our staff members have been working all summer long, getting the school ready, planning for the coming year, and attending trainings and workshops. We are excited about the work we have done and the positive impact it will have this coming school year.
As you have already noticed, school is beginning a bit earlier this year (August 16th), so make sure you are reading through this newsletter for important events and dates that lead us up to the start of the 2023-24 school year.
Enjoy the remainder of your summer break!

Student Course Updates for the 2023-24 School Year
As students return to school, they will notice a few changes to how some of our classes are scheduled, as well as some of the requirements in each grade level. Here is a list of some changes for the 2023-24 school year:
- 6th Grade Exploratory Classes: Our quarter exploratory classes at the 6th grade level have been moved to an A/B schedule for the 2023-24 school year. One semester, students will alternate between exploratory art and family consumer science and another semester students will take an exploratory digital tools/keyboarding class.
- 6th Grade PE/Music: All 6th grade students will take a PE and a music class all year, on an A/B schedule.
- 7th Grade Exploratory Classes: Our quarter exploratory classes at the 7th grade level have been moved to an A/B schedule for the 2023-24 school year. One semester, students will alternate between health and lifetime sports and another semester students will alternate between pre-engineering and Spanish.
- 8th Grade PE/Career Discovery: A new bill was passed in the 2023 legislative session that requires a career exploration course in middle school. Beginning in the fall of 2023, all 8th grade students will take a semester of career exploration, and a semester of PE. Previously a whole year of PE was required at the 8th grade level, but the new career exploration class has replaced one semester of PE.
