Stateside Scoop

Week of March 12th - March 16th

Parent survey available!

Below is a link for a parent survey. Please take a few moments to fill it out so we may have the invaluable feedback that we need to make Stateside an even better place to learn and serve for each and every Patriot!

We would love to have all surveys filled out by April 30th. If you are unable to access the link below, please feel free to send your teacher an email and they can send the link directly to you.

Bus changes and alerts available to parents

As many have noticed, we have had a great deal of bus changes both in the morning and afternoon. We send out Remind messages to those parents who have signed up to receive text messages of those changes as soon as we are notified. If you do not need this information now, the information is always available farther down in the Scoop as well and on the STES website.

See click on the below for the instructions on how to sign up for the bus changes. Please note: You only need to sign up for your students primary bus. For example, if there are two routes that are doing to be doubled up, the same message will go to both lists of parents.

Lunch fees and Free and reduced lunch applications

Students receive notices of their lunch balances every few weeks. We need your assistance in making sure those overages are taken care of. Feel free to send in a check or cash with your student. Those monies will be taken to the cafeteria to deposit into their account. You may also pay online. The link is below.

In addition, if you are in need of applying for Free or Reduced lunch, please see the website below to be able to fill out the application. You may also contact the Child Nutrition department at the County Office for assistance.

Reading Challenge is still going on for the remainder of the month!

Please continue to turn in your Reading Challenge Choice cards for a special prize! We love having visitors to the office each day to celebrate their love for reading!

Student absences

Just a reminder that we need either a doctors note or a handwritten parent note (to include parent signature, student name, teacher name, dates and reason for absence) in order to be excused. We appreciate your help with this matter.

Patriots in Action!

Jumprope for Heart information

Each grade will participate in their Jump Rope for Heart event on their PE WAVE day during the window of March 12th-March 20th.

Jump Rope for Heart will be wrapped up on 3/20. Please bring any envelopes with donations in before or on March 20th.

5th grade DC information

Final payments were due to Capitol Tours this past Friday, March 9th (that included a one week extension).

Also, Ms. Dawson sent out and email to all parents who have children attending the trip and / or will be chaperoning. Please return that as soon as you can. She is still missing a handful of documents from parents/students. Please continue to send them in as we need to take the next steps in our planning (i.e. room assignments, t-shirts, bus rosters, etc)

VERY IMPORTANT FOR CHAPERONES!!

If you have paid to be a chaperone for the trip, you will need to be fingerprinted very soon as it takes a few weeks to process. The list of dates is available in the front office. The sheet that needs to be turned in at the County Office is also available in the front office (it requires Mrs. Bracy's signature so please make sure you have it prior to going to the County Office.)

If you are not fingerprinted prior to the trip, you will not be allowed to attend and no refunds can be provided.

If you have any questions, please feel free to call. Mrs. Kight, Mrs. Dawson or Mrs. Helt will be glad to help you.

Chocolate Fundraising update

Please continue to turn in any monies related to the Chocolate fundraiser. If you have any questions, please ask any member of the office staff. We appreciate all who have participated in this fundraiser.

Dan the Animal Man will be visiting on Thursday, March 15th to provide an entertaining to those Patriots who are eligible.

Jelly Drive for the Onslow County Chew Program

PLEASE HELP OUT.........Childhood hunger in Onslow County is a growing concern. CHEW (Children Healthy Eating on Weekends) is a program that assist children in Onslow by providing a backpack filled with child friendly foods which are easy to prepare. The CHEW program serves 498 students in Onslow County schools and 101 of those students are in the Stateside/Richlands area.

March 12 -March 16, Stateside Elementary School will be collecting jars of jelly for the CHEW program. We are asking that each student try to bring at least one jar of jelly. Please, no glass jars. Our goal is to collect 800 jars of jelly. CHEW packs 104 jars of jelly a month. Please help the students in our community by donating. All donations will be used for Stateside and Richlands' schools.
