This Week's Kindergarten Highlights
Mrs. Ottis's morning group created on Tuesday a fruit loop necklace with 10 groups of 10 for a total of 100 on this 100th Day of School!
Mrs. Winkelmann's students sorted fruit loops as well into groups of ten making necklaces of you guessed it...... 100 fruit loops.
Mrs. Dugan's class modeling their 100th day of school crowns!
Students in Mrs. Hellbusch's class proudly display their 100th day of school necklaces!
Students working in one of Mrs. Seymour's kindergarten groups practiced their sight words fluency using cars to race to the parking spot of the words they hear!
Kindergartn students in Mrs. Seymour's morning group deconstruct an Article-A-Day piece about sledding. By examining the short piece with a writer's eye, they begin thinking about how to write their own HOW TO book!
Feedback from EL Families WARMS our hearts!
AM Car Rider Lane Feedback:
I would like to pass on a compliment to you and your morning car rider line teachers/helpers!
Every morning with a smile they greet not only my child but myself as well! I admire their enthusiasm ecspecially on cold frigid mornings such as today. Although their face may be cold, they still seem to push a smile through and although their hands would prefer to be tucked away, they still offer a genuine wave Goodmorning!
They wish us both a great day and that leaves a comforting feeling when leaving the school each morning!
Keep up the wonderful work!
Lunch Experience Thank You
Good afternoon Dr. Roe.
I just wanted to let you know how impressed I am of your staff at English Landing. I spent an hour inside your building today to have lunch with both of my kids and I cannot count the number of teachers and support staff that went out of their way to say hello to me, but more importantly, to my kids. Your staff goes above and beyond to make sure my children feel welcomed and comfortable while attending school. You can tell the English Landing staff take pride in creating such a positive environment, and I am so very thankful my children get to experience it. Thank you again and I hope you and your staff have a great rest of the school year.

Career Share: Schedule a Classroom Visit for SECOND Semester!
Parental involvement in your child’s classroom is one of the leading factors in raising self-esteem and academic achievement. This can go beyond attendance at Parent and Teacher Conferences or attending family nights at English Landing. We want to see you at a Career Share Classroom Visit!
Each of our English Landing families are unique ---with their own talents. Career Share is an opportunity for every child at English Landing to showcase THEIR family to their classmates. Career Share is an amazing opportunity for you to visit our classroom. Your involvement will not only make their day, but provide another opportunity for you to partner with English Landing and your child’s education.
Our goal is to have EVERY student have a member(s) of their family come share in our classroom about their job and careers. It truly means the world to our Eagles.
Please reach out to your child's classroom teacher to set up a time for a Career Share Classroom Visit.

Celebrating Birthdays at English Landing!
Celebrating Student Birthdays: (Park Hill Parent/Student Handbook pages 37-38):
We are happy to celebrate student birthdays and half birthdays (if your child has a summer birthday) at English Landing! To protect the health and safety of our students, families may bring pre-packaged treats to school to share with classmates. In order to address any known allergy concerns, a label listing ingredients should be affixed to the package. Due to allergies and other food intolerances, please consult with your classroom teacher before the pre-packaged treats are brought to school. As a healthier alternative, Park Hill Food Service offers a variety of nutritious treats that may be purchased.
At English Landing we need your HELP! Many birthday treats arrive at the beginning of the school day which provides us time to review the class list regarding food allergies or food intolerances, however, many other birthday treats arrive during lunch and often right at the same time the treat needs to be distributed to students. PLEASE plan on arriving earlier for lunch (at least 15 minutes) to give us time to check the pre-packaged treat ingredients with the students in the classroom who have food allergies or food intolerances. Our school nurse, Mrs. Kimbrel, and office staff, Mrs. Stevens, Mrs. Wood, or Mrs. Scott, will help with this process so when the lunchroom staff teachers distribute the treat in the cafeteria, additional steps have been taken to ensure we are protecting the health and safety of our eagles.
