What is Down Syndrome and how does it accur?
1 in every 691 babies in the US are born with Down Syndrome. It is one of the most common causes of birth defects. Down Syndrome is a genetic condition where a person is born with an extra copy of chromosome 21, making there 47, not the usual 46 chromosomes. I chose this topic because i didn't know much about Down Syndrome, and it seemed interesting to know how many children are living with it. So i ask myself, how can i create a presentation to raise awareness about children with Down Syndrome?

For example, eyes slanted, flat back of head, reduced muscle tone, and are usually below average height and weight. Children with down syndrome may have delayed mental and social development. Down Syndrome also affects children s´ ability to learn. They may have a delay in speaking, struggle with basic numbers, and have a verbal short-term memory.

Ndss.org states, ¨Approximately 400,000 Americans have Down syndrome and about 6,000 babies with Down syndrome are born in the United States each year." i think this topic is very important to a lot of people, and to know what lots of people have been struggling through. This topic was interesting to learn about. Around 775 babies are born with the condition each year in England and Wales. Down syndrome is the most common birth defect.
