MetUp Highlights!
"Leaving to Learn" - We had a terrific MetUp on Friday, October 20. We went to UCSD, the University of California, San Diego. Our students enjoyed guided tours by UCSD students and time for lunch and exploration. Our students were hopefully inspired to consider four-year universities as a relevant and accessible postsecondary option that they may want to pursue.

Impact Aid Survey
Please complete the 2023-2024 Impact Aid Survey in the PowerSchool Parent Portal by 11/8/23. This is NOT the LCFF form that we just did; it is a separate form that needs to be completed to secure funding for our school. It is very short with three basic questions: one is confirming the information in PowerSchool is correct, one is about housing, and the final one is about whether you live in military housing. It should take less than a minute to complete!
Here are directions:
Login at https://powerschool.sandi.net/.
Select Forms from the left-hand navigation menu, then select 2023-24 Impact Aid Survey.
Follow the prompts and submit the form. Please be sure a confirmation appears before logging off. This FLIER also shows the few steps to completion.
If you do not have a Parent Portal account, please contact Suzana Valis at svalis@sandi.net or 619-288-2529. Any family that had not yet established a Parent Portal account was emailed their specific Access Codes from Ms. Valis last week.
Thank you for your help with making sure our school is fully funded!

PSAT for 11th Grade - Thurs, Oct. 26, 9am to 12pm
11th grade Met students will be taking the PSAT/NMSQT on October 26, 2023. The test is being offered by the district free of charge. This is now a digital test and students have been loaded into the test day toolkit on their school issued computers. Additionally, students have been mailed initial instructions.
The link below will provide more information about what to expect for the digital exam, how students can practice and more details for a smooth administration.

Our testing coordinator, Siv Verdun, is working with district staff to complete our readiness steps. 11th grade students will need to bring their school issued computers to school on Wednesday, October 18, as they will be working with district staff to prepare for the test on October 26. As October 26 is a Thursday, students will have to let their mentors know in advance that they will not be at their internship that day.
The exam is expected to take approximately 3 hours and is scheduled to begin at 9:00am and end at 12:00pm. Students will be dismissed after that. On the day of the test, students will need to have their school issued computer and a charger. They can also bring snacks and water for their break.
If you have any questions, please feel free to email Ms. Verdun at: sdavis1@sandi.net.

San Diego Unified School District has embarked on an exciting new partnership with San Diego Public Library to ensure all students have access to materials and services necessary for their educational success. Starting this school year, the Library and School District will begin automatically registering students for a San Diego Public Library Student EXCEL Library Card. Once the students receive their card (they received them last week in Advisory), they will need to bring their San Diego Unified School Student ID number and their EXCEL card to any of the 36 San Diego Public Library locations to activate. Read this letter to learn about all of the ways your student can use this card!
