Healh and Safety Guidelines

We are taking every precaution we can to try to keep our students and our staff safe during this COVID-19 pandemic. Please see the special edition of the Timberwolf Times that was sent to the community on August 17th.

Daily Arrival Procedures:

Supervision of students begins at 8:50 am. Car riders should be dropped off at the front of the building at either Loop A or Loop B. Please do not drop off students before 8:50 am, as we don't have adult supervision until that time. As students arrive, they will enter the front doors and go directly to their classrooms. If students are eating breakfast they will go to the cafeteria to pick up a Grab 'n Go Breakfast. Students arriving after 9:10 am, will be counted tardy and need to report to the office to sign in with a parent.

Daily Dismissal Procedures:

Your child's teacher will reach out to confirm your child's daily dismissal plan. Please communicate any changes to this plan, as they arise, throughout the school year to ensure that your child gets home safely each day.

BUS RIDERS: Bus riders are dismissed through the west doors (by the cafe) each afternoon. Classroom teachers walk students to the buses and help them find the appropriate bus. During the first few days, this process can take a bit longer than normal as staff members double check that all students are on the correct bus. Then, the bus can get further delayed as the drivers take time to make sure students safely get off at the right stop.

Lana Dudzinski, Park Hill's Transportation Coordinator, will be sending a notification to parents via School Messenger on Monday, August 31st notifying them that bus information (bus #, bus stop location, pick-up and drop-off times) will available through your Parent Portal beginning on Tuesday, September 1st. Watch for that communication if your child will be a bus rider this year.

ADVENTURE CLUB: Students who participate in the after-school care program, Adventure Club, will be dismissed directly to their assigned classroom each day. Adventure Club staff checks in each student and cross-checks with our front office to ensure that all students who are enrolled in Adventure Club are accounted for at dismissal.

CAR RIDERS: We will provide each student with a car rider sign. Having this car rider sign on display in your vehicle allows parents or family members to remain in the car in the car rider lane during evening dismissal instead of entering the building with your photo ID and signing out the student. Please see the detailed car rider plan below.

While the car rider line can be slow the first few days, once students and families learn the routine, it will speed up considerably. Thanks in advance for your patience and understanding that our main focus in on all students getting into cars safely. Parents can help by staying in your vehicle and allowing staff members to assist students into cars and teaching your child how to buckle their own seat belt.

WALKERS: Walkers will be dismissed through the front doors and the playground doors and can meet their families near the playground entrance. Students who don't have a parent/guardian meeting them at school, will be accompanied across Old Tiffany Springs Road by a staff member who will make sure they cross safely.

Technology Use at Home

Here are some general guidelines and best practices for laptop use at home.

Thank you for your support. If you have any technology issues or questions, please contact the Help Desk Monday - Friday 7 a.m. - 5 p.m. at 816-359-5000.

Safety Drills

All schools in the Park Hill School District follow specific procedures to ensure the safety of students and staff in the event of an emergency. All schools have emergency plans in place. Each year we conduct 10 fire drills (one each month), one earthquake drill, two tornado drills, and two intruder drills. Our staff has been trained on these drills, and we will discuss emergency procedures for all drills in the classrooms during the first days of school. Please know that each teacher will approach their class discussions with care and consideration of all students.

Birthday Treats

Due to our safety guidelines, we will not be able to have food or other items brought into the school building for birthdays or other celebrations. If you are still interested in birthday treats for your students, our Food Service has options available for purchase. Click HERE for ordering information.

Cafeteria Information

Students may bring their lunch from home or purchase a school lunch from the cafeteria. Menus are sent home on a monthly basis. You can access your child’s lunch account at www.schoolcafe.com.

Lunch prices for the 2020-21 school year are as follows:

Student Breakfast – $ 1.50

Student Lunch – $ 2.40 (includes a drink)

Adult Lunch – $3.50

2020-2021 Free and Reduced Lunch Applications

Healthy meals help your children succeed in school. Your children may qualify for free meals or for reduced price meals. Forms are available in the office and will be in each classroom at Back to School Night. Guidelines for qualifying for free or reduced price lunches available on the Park Hill website, which you may access HERE. Online application forms may be accessed HERE. Please fill out and drop off at the front office. These forms do not carry over and have to be filled out each school year. Should you have any questions, please contact our School Social Worker, Mrs. Laney at 816-359-6229.

Did you know? Translating Resource

We partner with Argo Telephonic Translation Services to help us better communicate with families that speak a language other than English. We can set up an interpreter during parent conferences in addition to using a translator during phone calls. If you, or someone you know would benefit from this service, please let your child's teacher know, or contact Dr. Rios.

Health Room - Medication

Our health room is available if your child becomes ill or injured while at school. All non-prescription, over-the-counter medication must be sent in the original container with a written request by the parent or physician. If for any reason your child is on medication, before it can be administered, the medication must be in a prescription labeled bottle accompanied by a doctor’s note. The medication is kept in the health room. The medication authorization form must be completed and signed by the parent or guardian for all medications given at school. It is recommended that medication NOT be sent to school with the children. Parents should schedule an appointment with Nurse Snodgrass to bring the medication to school. Please call her at 816-359-4404 to set up an appointment time.

Immunizations

Reminder from the health room: All students need to be up to date on immunizations BEFORE starting school on September 8th. Documentation of immunizations or scheduled appointment must be turned into the health room regardless if the student has elected to do online learning. No exceptions will be made. Please call the health room with any questions or concerns at (816)359-4404.
