What are Doodle Notes? aka Sketchnotes
According to SketchNoteArmy.com, these are purposefully doodling while listening to something of interest. It is the synthesis of visual items and text.

3 Basic Elements of Doodle Notes
Text-Verbal to Visual
When creating doodle notes, one element to include is text...yes, it's not all pictures!
Check this website:
This site is a great place to start! I love the suggestions here:
- Develop your core handwritten font; one that will allow for: speed, legibility, consistency, layout
- Practice your core font
- Develop a feel for your layout
- Then practice your doodle noting!
Develop Your Visual Library of Graphics
The visual elements in your doodle notes include:
- doodles
- shapes
- connectors/lines/arrows
Just like developing your library of abbreviations used in verbal note-taking, you need to build a library visual graphics. The Verbal to Visual website has a visual vocabulary pack you can download, but they ask for a donation.
Develop Your Structure
With the visual vocabulary pack download, you will also get a guide for developing a flow or sense of structure for your doodle notes. It is definitely worth the investment...whatever you deem it to be.
