September Chickasaw Chatter

A Note from Mrs. Nichols

Happy September, Champions!

It has been a great first three weeks. It has been wonderful to see our students and staff back in the building! I have also enjoyed getting on Schoology and seeing some of the awesome work our virtual students have submitted.

Thank you, parents, for your help in getting all required paperwork and documentation to us. Most importantly, thank you for teaming with us to ensure ALL of our champions are learning! Our success as a school is directly linked to our ability to work as a team (staff, students, and parents).

We have been working hard building relationships and learning to exhibit traits of a Chickasaw Champion-being respectful, responsible, and ready! Our goal is to empower our students to make successful choices by teaching them practical, concrete ways that demonstrate these citizenship skills.

We are excited about the year ahead. We look forward to a year full of fun, friendship, and learning!

Distance Learning Reminders and Information

On behalf of our distance learning teachers and our administrative

team, I would like to thank you for your understanding as we have

adjusted to our learning management system and virtual instruction. It is our goal to provide your child with instruction that will meet his/her needs and grow him/her academically. I would like to share a few reminders and some information regarding virtual instruction.

Your child must submit all assignments OR be actively logged in to Schoology for 240 minutes each day to be counted present. The only exception to this rule is for a student with a special education eligibility whose IEP has an extended time accommodation listed.

Should your child have difficulty with a district-issued device, trouble logging in to Schoology, Clever, or iReady, or submitting an assignment, you should email This email is checked hourly.

Each distance learning teacher has a specified time each day to connect with families via phone, email, or text. It is during this time you can speak directly with your child’s teacher(s) should you need to do so. Monday-Thursday 8:00am-9:00am Friday 7:30am-9:00am

We have instructional assistants that are working with our distance learning teachers. You may be contacted by one of these assistants while your child is a part of our virtual instruction program. They are Rachel Guffin and Amanda Howard.

Distance learning students will receive a combination of pre-recorded instruction, live small group instruction, and independent assignments. Pre-recorded instruction and independent assignments can be viewed at any time during the day. Live, small group instruction will be at a scheduled time that your child’s teacher will make you aware of. For students that are unable to participate live, a recording will be made.

I hope this information serves as a clarification to some of the common questions we have received regarding virtual instruction at CES.
