Principal's Message

Dear West TV families,

5th grade car parade!

Our 5th graders are invited to participate in a car parade on the last day of school (Friday, June 18) to celebrate their final day as All Stars. The parade will start at the school - at 5:30pm and then travel through the West TV neighborhood. The staff will cheer for them as they drive through the school parking lot and families can cheer for them as they drive through the West TV neighborhood! A map of the car parade route is below.

2nd Semester Report Cards

Report cards will be available for viewing in ParentVUE on Friday, June 25.

Next year's teachers
Based on our current enrollment, I anticipate we will have 2 teachers for each grade level again in the fall and that all of our current teachers will be returning.

Families will be notified who their child's new teacher will be on Wednesday, September 1. Students can meet their new teacher on Thursday, September 2 at the "Meet & Treat" event (4:30-5:30pm). At this event students will be able to say hello to their teacher, drop off their school supplies, and enjoy a treat on the playground!

School start/end time for 21-22

The school day begins at 8:00am and ends at 2:35pm.

Student arrival time for 21-22

Students will go directly to their classroom and can arrive anytime between 7:50-8:00am (for safety reasons students are not allowed to arrive before 7:50am as there will be no adult supervision). Students will enter the school as they have during Hybrid this spring (they will not go to the gym).

5th grade gift to West TV

Each year the 5th graders give a gift to the school. The gift this year was replacing the Little Free Library in the parking lot and to purchase brand new books for it. In addition, every 5th grade student decorated a star for the sides and back. It turned out beautifully...thank you 5th graders!

History of the Little Free Library

The Little Library was started by Andy Owens, who attended West TV from 1992 -1996. He decorated the Little Free Library and every week would come to West TV to clean up and reload books for children of all ages. It was a free library and children could take books, borrow books, or leave books.

All families are welcome to use the Little Free Library - donate a book, take a book or both!

Community Star Art Project

Thank you to everyone who purchased and decorated a star for our fence as part of the West TV PTC Spring fundraiser. The stars have been placed on both sides of the 'West TV All-Stars' signage and they turned out great!

Child Care Options for 21-22


Each year at West TV there is an on site child care provider - it is the YMCA. At this time the YMCA is expecting to return next year offering both before and after school child care options. Please contact the YMCA directly to reserve a spot for your child. See contact information below.

Volunteering at West TV

If you would like to volunteer at West TV next year, you will need to complete an online application and pass a background check. You can apply here at anytime. Please be advised that the background check may take time to process.

If you've already completed the application and passed the background check, you do not need to do it again - you're all set for next year!

Help us reach our goal!

Next year, we would like to make a Wellness Room at West TV. What's a Wellness Room?

A Wellness Room is a space for our students to build skills in regulating their emotions while at school. The Wellness Room will be open to students as a dedicated space with unique sensory tools that target self-regulation skill development by teaching in a co-regulation model guided by a supportive staff member. When students are emotionally regulated, they are ready to engage in their classroom learning environments.

Our goal is to raise $2,500 in order to purchase sensory tools: foam building blocks, wiggle cushions and a variety of seating, sensory path decals, brain puzzles, magnatiles, fluorescent light covers and more. We have been approved for a Beaverton's Choice Project.

Returning student devices (chromebooks/iPads) and hotspots

When you return your child's device and charger (and stylus on the newer Chromebooks) to West TV, please attach a piece of paper (with tape or a rubberband) that has your child's first and last name, and also the name of your child's teacher.

Return dates/times:

  • Friday 6/18 - between 2:30-3:30pm
  • Monday 6/21 between 7:30-8:30am

If you have a district issued hotspot, please return it to West TV on either of those dates as well.

If you are unable to return your child's device or hotspot on either of those dates/times, please give the school office a call to arrange another time to return it (office phone: 503.356.2510).

Students who are in summer school can keep their device for summer school. Schools need to coordinate getting these devices back as soon as school finishes so the TSS can organize them for a company to pick them up for repairs, updates and exchanges in order to be ready for the fall.

Any student whose device is damaged should send an email to that includes the following information as soon as possible:

  • Name

  • Contact information (phone number)

  • School

  • Student ID

  • Description of the issue

We're Launching ParentSquare June 28

District Message

MAY 24 2021

The Beaverton School District is very excited to be adopting a new and improved platform for communication. Beginning June 28, we’ll be transitioning to a product called ParentSquare to keep families better informed. ParentSquare will replace SchoolMessenger and any other texting/messaging apps like Remind or Talking Points that individual schools and teachers may be using. It will not replace ParentVUE, StudentVUE, Canvas or Seesaw.

ParentSquare provides a safe way for administrators, teachers, staff and parents to:

  • Send and receive district, school and class information in your preferred language
  • Share pictures and files
  • See calendar items
  • Sign up for conferences
  • And much more… all in one place!

District, school, grade level and classroom information will be sent to your computer and/or phone via email and/or text. Or you can download the free iOS or Android app.

ParentSquare has a familiar design, similar to a social media feed. Families will only receive notifications that are relevant to their students. In addition to district- and school-wide messaging, teachers and staff will have access to two-way messaging with real-time translation. Families will be able to receive and send information in their chosen languages.

You don’t need to take any action to receive emails, texts or phone calls prior to the June 28 launch. Our student information system will sync contact information directly with ParentSquare.

If you’d prefer to use the app, simply download it from the app store on or after June 28 and follow the prompts.

JUNE 14 2021

The Beaverton School District will be launching a new communication platform called ParentSquare on June 28 to replace SchoolMessenger. We encourage you to watch this 3-minute video.

If you have questions, please join us for a Facebook chat. We’ll be on hand to answer questions on Tuesday, June 29 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Please note, this won’t be a live video event but a real-time chat through comments.

As the district plans to safely welcome students and staff back to school in the fall, there may be the need to send district-wide communications throughout the summer. We’ll send communications via our new communications platform, ParentSquare. We’ll also post important information on our district website and social media platforms. Please check your email regularly throughout the summer to stay informed.

2021 Summer Meal Program: June 28 - August 12

This summer, children can access free breakfasts and lunches through the federally-funded Summer Food Service Program sponsored by the Beaverton School District Nutrition Services Department. All children, ages 1 through 18 years, are eligible. There is no application or registration required. Parents or guardians may pick up meals for children who aren’t able to be present. A Parent/Guardian Meal Pick-up Form must be provided to Nutrition Services staff prior to meal pickup.

Curbside, grab & go meals will be available from June 28 - August 12 at all six of the district’s comprehensive high schools. Meals will be available Monday through Thursday from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. Breakfast and lunch will be distributed together in the same bag. Meals will be available at the following locations:

  • Aloha High School

  • Beaverton High School

  • Mountainside High School

  • Southridge High School

  • Sunset High School

  • Westview High School

School Supply Packs for next year

Each Spring we offer an opportunity for families to purchase the school supplies that teachers have requested for next school year. We have used this company for several years and they do a great job for us. This is a convenient way for families to avoid the stores before school begins but it is not required (it is optional). See below for ordering information. The School Supply Lists for 21-22 are also below.

It's time to order school supplies for next year! Supplies will be bundled and shipped directly to school next fall and will be distributed to each student in time for the first day of classes.
