Hello Tribe Families!
PICTURE DAY is tomorrow (Monday)!
Ecoff Elementary School is excited to announce that we will be having a Book Character
Dress Up Day on Thursday October 31, 2019. On that day, each student may come to school dressed up as a character from their favorite book. The character must be from a book (no ninjas, superheroes, witches, masks or costumes with weapons). Your child should also be prepared to discuss both the character and the book. Please work with your child to plan a simple costume and be on the lookout for a form coming home. Your child may also bring a copy of the book to class that day.
The Ecoff PTA is hosting a Family Game Night on Tuesday, October 22nd from 4:00pm to 7:00pm in the cafeteria. There will be a variety of games, some provided by our community partner Mathnasium, and non-candy treats. The Book Fair will be open in the Ecoff Empowerment Zone (across from the cafeteria), so please come out and enjoy all that Ecoff has to offer!
There has been a change in the school calendar, so please adjust yours! The Board approved, in part, Memo #106-19, adjusting the current school-year calendar as follows in anticipation of heavy voter turnout for the March 3 Super Tuesday primary:
Tuesday, March 3 will be a student holiday.
Friday, March 13 will be a full day of instruction for students.
We are in need of composition notebooks! If you have any around or are willing to pick up one at the store, please send it in with your child. Thank you so much!
The Children's Museum of Richmond is offering scholarships to family's whose household income is less than $35,000 per year. Just scroll down and click on the purple box to see if you're eligible. It is such a great way to spend together and entertain your child!

Social Media Awareness Program
The county is sponsoring a Social Media Awareness Program. This event will be held on October 16th from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Thomas R Fulghum Conference Center located on Hull Street. This program is for Chesterfield parent and their elementary and middle school age children. Dinner for the event will be provided by Wegman's Catering. Please RSVP here by October 9th. There is no cost, but seats are limited.
Gifted Testing Referrals
CCPS provides gifted education services to eligible students. In order for a student to be evaluated for eligibility, additional areas of strength, and/or CBG Academy admission, a GiftedProgram Services Referral and Review Form must be submitted to start the process. These forms may be completed by parents/guardians, community members, teachers, or students and are available throughout the year during normal operating hours from counseling or main office staff. Verbal or email communications do not serve as a substitute for this form.
Signed and dated referral forms must be submitted to the student’s school by the end of the school day on the referral deadline date to be considered for assessment during the testing window for that grade level. If any of these dates falls on a weekend, school holiday/break, or snow day, the deadline is the end of the next school day in which school is in session.
Referral deadlines are as follows:
October 15 - students currently in grade 5
December 15 - students currently in grades 2-4
March 15 - students currently in KG or grade 1
