people and religion


The people were classified into 3 classes in society: awuli, free person of upperclass. the mushkenu, person of low estate. wardu, a slave. All groups were protected by law, and enjoyed a minimum of rights.


The religion of the Babylonians worshipped many gods, and their chief god was marduk. the people eventually called him, "Bel" which means "our lord." This religion shared many similarities to the Christian religion, except they are polytheistic.
