Red Ribbon Week October 28 - November 1
Red Ribbon week will be celebrated with theme days, guest speakers, and a food drive to benefit families during the holidays.
Each day there will be a different theme as students dress to support staying drug and alcohol free as they pursue goals. Parents and students can refer to the website for school appropriate clothing.
Theme Days:
- Monday 10/28: Stay in the Game (Sports Attire)
- Tuesday 10/29: Where Drug Free Dreams Come True (Disney Wear)
- Wednesday 10/30: Check Yourself (Plaid/ Checkered Clothing)
- Thursday 10/31: Living the Drug Free Dream (School Appropriate Pajamas)
- Friday 11/1: Stay Magically You! (Harry Potter Wear - or Red, Yellow, Blue, or Green
Guest speakers will also provide information and encourage students to make healthy and safe decisions.
“Pine View CAN say No to Drugs” has been a tradition and each year students make a difference for families.
With each item donated, students will earn a ticket for a chance to win a PVMS yearbook. Three yearbooks will be given to those students in May.
Throughout the week, we will continue to encourage students to surround themselves with positive friends, to set goals, and be proud of their accomplishments as they refuse to be distracted by drugs.

IB Learner Profile of the Month: Knowledgeable
October- Knowledgeable
As a PVMS Family, we focus on a different IB Learner Profile (a trait that we strive to display to become the best people possible) every month. For October, we are focusing on being Knowledgeable. We are Knowledgeable when we explore concepts, ideas and issues. PVMS staff members will award PBIS points to students who are displaying that they are Knowledgeable. Teachers will also be choosing students for “Student of the Month” who are an example to others in exemplifying that they are Knowledgeable. We encourage students to wear red on Fridays during October to represent our Learner Profile of the month.
You will see signs displaying the Learner Profiles throughout the school. The profiles are also posted above the white board in each classroom. Teachers have a second set of magnetic Learner Profiles that will make it easier to highlight which Profiles are relevant to the current classroom activity.

Odyssey of the Mind
Enjoy thinking outside the box? Join Odyssey of the Mind! Participating in Odyssey of the Mind provides you the opportunity to learn creative problem solving, teamwork and self-reliance while having fun solving a problem and creating a presentation with your own ideas and those of your team mates. Although you have an adult coach (usually a parent) to support and advise you, all the ideas and the work on the solution come from the team members. It all culminates in a multi-school regional competition in late February/early March and a chance for the highest scored teams to compete at the State Tournament in Orlando and maybe even the OM World Finals.
Interested students (and adults interested in coaching a team) can complete the form at: https://pvms.pasco.k12.fl.us/4297-2/
For more information please contact Pine View’s OM coordinator Nilsa Calabria, by email at ncalabri@pasco.k12.fl.us, or by phone at (813) 794-4800, Ext. 44901 or (813) 618-8995.
