SEL Snapshot
Mrs. Fisher (school counselor) and Mrs. Proctor (our school social worker) are hard at work providing SEL (Social Emotional Learning) lessons in each classroom. Did you know that each classroom receives 200 minutes a month of these SEL lessons? How amazing is that!!!
Have you ever wondered what in the world we are doing in these lessons? We use lots of things to provide these lessons with the main ones being: Quaver, Second Step, Keys of Excellence, and Mind-up. We have worked hard to create a scope and sequence that follows the CASEL (Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning) competencies (self-awareness; self-management; social awareness; relationship skills; responsible decision-making) and have also created assessments for each competency. September and part of October have/will be focused on the unit of self-awareness. These lessons focus specifically on identifying emotions, self-confidence, recognizing strengths, accurate self-perception, and self-efficacy.
If you have any questions please feel free to reach out!MORNING DROP OFF
PikMyKid Parent Help
Jefferson uses the PikMyKid App for dismissal to ensure the safety of our students and staff. Here are a couple of helpful videos to help you download and get registered on the App. The 2nd video is a User Guide video to help you navigate the App as a parent. We would like ALL families to use this App for dismissal time at the end of each day. I have also attached below a letter and map explaining our dismissal process as well as PikMyKid User Instructions. Thank you for assisting us by downloading the App and getting registered.

Key of Excellence-Jefferson Character Trait of the Month
INTEGRITY – Match behavior with values
Demonstrate your positive personal values in all you do and say. Be sincere and real.
Living in integrity means that everything we say and everything we do are true reflections of what we value, what’s important to us. Think about what your behavior says about you. Does it clearly show others what you value? Do you show up as honest and committed, or dishonest and indifferent? Are you spending your time with the people and activities you value, or is your focus elsewhere?
When we live in integrity we are sincere and true to ourselves—we don’t say or think one thing and do another. People trust and respect us, our relationships are solid, and we feel good about ourselves. Those positive feelings from others and within ourselves reinforce our values and build our reputation and self-esteem, leading us to greater success in all areas of our lives.
