Things are really humming around campus these days. Clubs are starting, fun events are happening, and tests are already being taken. We are ramping up for College Visit season in the College and Career Center and hope that many students will be attending these visits. It's never a waste of time to learn something.... perhaps about a college you've never heard of before. Also, remember that Homework Center is available to all students on Tuesday & Thursday 2:50-3:50pm in the Library. If you need help, come on by and one of the amazing teachers will be glad to help you. If you just need a quiet place to do your work for an hour after school, stop by for that as well. You are all welcome!

Okay, a couple of Fun Facts I saw after I googled "Fun Facts" are:
- The plastic tips of shoelaces are called aglets. These tips can also be made of metal. Its purpose is to help make the lace easier to hold when running through the holes of the shoes.
- A jiffy is a proper unit of time. It is exactly 1/100th of a second. So if you've ever said "I'll be done in a jiffy," you were probably late.

College Spotlight
Washington State University
Washington State University is a public research university located in Pullman, Washington, committed to its land-grant heritage and tradition of service to society. So what is a “land-grant” university?
The Morrill Acts of 1862 and 1890 answered demand for practical education that was accessible to agricultural and industrial workers. The legislation granted federally controlled land to the states, which states could then sell to fund establishment of “land-grant” colleges. Curricula at land grant institutions served a broad swath of the population by focusing on agriculture and technical subjects.
Ensuing legislation established an agricultural experiment station with each land-grant institution. Cooperative extension services were created to circulate information about the stations’ research findings.
Washington State College was established in 1890 as a land-grant institution. It has become a distinguished public research university, but its mission remains rooted in accessibility and public service.
WSU's athletic teams are called the Cougars and the school colors are crimson and gray. Six men's and nine women's varsity teams compete in NCAA Division I in the Pac-12 Conference. Both men's and women's indoor track teams compete in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation. WSU students are known for having great school spirit, GO COUGS!
