Breakthrough Stands with the AAPI Community

#STOPASIANHATE

Dear Breakthrough at Kent Denver community,

We are deeply saddened by recent events in Atlanta and are mourning the loss of eight innocent lives. The increase of violence and racist rhetoric against the Asian American and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) community is a reality that must be disrupted. We invite you to express your outrage by using your voice to raise awareness.

Breakthrough strives to be an anti-racist community. We are committed to celebrating our diversity, building an equitable and inclusive environment, and providing the space for our students and families to process realities in our country. Please reach out if you would like help finding mental health support, or to discuss these senseless acts with our community.

This is a difficult time, and this has been a difficult year. We must be unwavering in our support of the AAPI community and our denunciation of all racist propaganda and violence perpetrated against marginalized communities. Breakthrough at Kent Denver stands in support of Asian American and Pacific Islanders.

We can show our support for the thriving AAPI community in Denver, learn about the Asian Pacific Development Center, or support the Asian Chamber of Commerce. Please also report AAPI hate incidents at stopaapihate.org. Together we can stand with the AAPI community in solidarity against this hatred.

Thank you for your support,

The Breakthrough at Kent Denver Team

Please see below a statement from the Breakthrough Collaborative:

"As we pause to reflect on this week's tragic events in Atlanta, we are mourning the loss of eight more innocent lives. The horrific crime brings fresh attention to a well-documented and widespread wave of racially-motivated violence against the Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities, and it serves to deepen our resolve to fight the hate and racism that divides our nation. We call on our Breakthrough community members in this moment to use your voices to raise awareness, share resources, and bring about much needed change in our country. We must not let hate or racism win. May this one day be a place where all can feel valued, protected, and safe. BREAKTHROUGH STANDS WITH THE APPI COMMUNITY. #STOPASIANHATE"
