Blaze Bulletin
Edition 30
Greetings...
Dear teachers/staff,
Some asked me to share this quote from inservice:
"This is the value of the teacher, who looks at a face and says there's something behind that and I want to reach that person, I want to encourage that person, I want to enrich, I want to call out that person who is behind that language, behind that tradition, behind that culture. I believe you can do it. I know what was done for me."
-Maya Angelou
Thanks, teachers and staff, for a great first week. I know you are each "that teacher!"
Enjoy the weekend!

Special Education Tips and Hints...
Special education is not a place; it is the most intensive intervention along the continuum of service, defined by individual need, services, and placement.
An Individual Education Plan (IEP) meeting must be held to review a student’s evaluation results and determine his/her eligibility for special education services.
The composition of the IEP team is prescribed by the federal Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). The school district is responsible for ensuring that the IEP team for each child with a disability includes the following:
1. The parents and/or guardian of the child.
2. Not less than one regular education teacher of the child (if the child is, or may be, participating in the regular education environment)
3. Not less than one special educator of the child, or when appropriate, not less than one special education provider of the child
4. A representative of the public agency (school district) who: a. is qualified to provide, or supervise the provision of, specially designed instruction to meet the unique needs of children with disabilities; b. is knowledgeable about the general education curriculum; and c. is knowledgeable about the availability of resources of the public agency (school district).
