Superintendent Survey
The Gwinnett County Board of Education is moving forward in its search to identify the school district's next superintendent. An essential part of the search process is obtaining feedback from stakeholders in the community. As a member of our school community, we hope you will participate in the online survey to share your thoughts on the qualities you would like to see in the next superintendent. The survey is open through 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, May 16, and is available in English, Spanish, Korean, Chinese, and Vietnamese.

You are an important partner with your child’s teacher, whether your child is learning at home or at school. To help you support your child’s learning, GCPS is launching a new initiative called AKS at Home. With this project, families will learn ways to help their child practice skills they are learning in class as part of the district’s Academic Knowledge and Skills (AKS) curriculum. Parents have access to a library of recorded sessions and tip-sheets. Find more information on the AKS at Home web page.
**NEW DATES FOR 4th QUARTER HAVE BEEN ADDED!**
Character Word of the Month: Fairness
The character trait for the month of April is Fairness. We define fairness as treating others in a way that is right or reasonable. Fairness also means that each of us gets what we need. We can show fairness by playing by the rules, taking turns and sharing, and taking personal responsibility for our actions. Teachers will choose one student in their class that exhibited fairness the most for the month of April to represent their class as the Cub of the Month.

Reading Rewards
Congratulations to all of our March readers! April is the last month for our Reading Rewards program this school year. All April Reading Rewards logs are due by Monday, May 3.
The goal of our Reading Rewards program is to help students develop a consistent habit of reading. The monthly requirement is to read, outside of school hours, at least 20 minutes a day for at least 20 days of the month. Students are expected to list book titles and minutes read on each of the 20 dates that are logged on the form. Parents must initial each of the entry dates.
For students to be recognized, the reading log must be turned in on time and considered complete. Students can complete and submit a paper or digital log. The digital log can be found on the school home page of eCLASS. The digital log is an editable pdf file that can be downloaded and saved to your computer at home. Once complete the digital log is submitted as an eCLASS assignment.
Reading logs can be turned into your teacher anytime you have finished the requirements. No logs should be received before the 21st of each month.
If you have any questions about the Reading Rewards program, please email Jennifer.Alden@gcpsk12.org.
Overdue Media Center Books
Student media accounts must be clear of outstanding books and fines before the end of the school year. We have many digital and in-person students with overdue and/or damaged books. Per GCPS policy, fines are charged for lost and damaged media center books.
Weekly overdue notice reports will be emailed to parents beginning next week. If you receive an overdue notice, please make every effort to locate the overdue books and return the books to the school. Digital students can return overdue books to the front lobby or place the books in the book crate outside of the front doors. If you have lost a book, the fine can be paid with cash, check, or through MyPaymentsPlus. Should a book be found after payment is made, a refund request will be promptly generated.
