Sign Up for the Virtual Mock Reading Workshop April 13th and 14th!
Have you signed up for the AP Math Mock Reading workshop? This was one event AP teachers never regret attending. They learn something new every year and it really helps to diagnose possible weaknesses in your curriculum and with individual students. It gives students the confidence that they need to move from a 1 or 2 to a qualifying score. When you show them how close that they are from gaining that next score, they seem to work harder for it! It also makes you give your students that extra push even when you don’t feel that they were going to do well on the mock because we had not covered all of the material. AND, it shows you what topics you need to strengthen and what you don’t need to stress about. The first year I began my mock exam and scoring I saw significant gains in my AP Scores.
This year we have Bryan Passwater as a national presenter to train us in review strategies and scoring our papers. He did such a fantastic job at the Fall 2-day I wanted to bring him back and have him present on his review strategies and scoring techniques.

You really don't want to miss this amazing training opportunity!
During the two day virtual event, Bryan will train you in Review Techniques and how to score your students' mock exams during the first day of training (Tuesday, April 13th). He will also give you wonderful tips in using the mock exam to review your students in preparation for the exam. On the second day of training (Wednesday, April 14th), you will have the opportunity to put that training to use while you score your papers with the assistance of Teacher Leaders and Readers from across the state. Having the expertise of knowing what will count for a point and what will not means higher scores for your students.
I know with all of the snow and Covid this year, you may feel that you just can't be out of the classroom for two days so close to the exam. Or, you may feel that you don't have time to give the mock because you have missed too many days. One thing that I have done in the past when pressed for time was to have my students take the free response questions so that I could get them to the reading, then let them finish up the multiple choice section while I was out. If you are a Google Site user, you can use the Zoom Video Review Library that we have created on the AR AIMS AP Calculus Google Site to have your students "attend" a review session. These review sessions are accompanied by handouts so that you can easily hold your student accountable.
To get signed up and for information to pass along to your administration, you can access the registration form HERE. I know that this will be an extremely valuable event that you won't want to miss! Let me know if you have any questions about this or anything else AR AIMS.
