Current and Upcoming Events in Our Class
January is almost over and many new adventures await us in the near future! To begin I would like to ask you and your child to look around your home for a missing i-Pad wall charger/cord. One of our classmates is missing a cord and cannot charge until it has been located. If you find one that you know to be an extra at your household, please send it in! If your child does bring their charger to school, please mark it in some way.
As a reminder please send your student to school with a fully charged device and send them with their device everyday if at all possible. We are currently in the midst of a World War II reading project in which the students are using their devices to create online study stacks about topics/leaders/battles from the war.
Your student is now reading the novel Phantom Tollbooth, taking science, social studies, and math midterms to prepare for PASS, and writing a Superhero narrative to publish in our class yearbook. To wrap up our mixtures and solutions science unit, your child will be writing a script about his or her element from the periodic table. After recording these videos we will transition back into social studies: World War II, the Cold War, and the Civil Rights Movement!
Camp Thunderbird is also approaching faster than we know! We are still looking for male and female chaperones to come during the day and/or dinnertime ($10) and to stay overnight throughout the trip ($75). Our class is also in charge of sending in items for Smores- so far we have received Hershey’s chocolate, so we are still in need of graham crackers and marshmallows.
As always please feel free to contact us with any questions at congerl2@winthrop.edu and Mrs. O’Grady-Jones and mjones@rhmail.org
