Principal Connection - A Note From Mrs. Seniura:
As we wind down this very unusual year, we are planning to CELEBRATE!! Our students and families have been resilient. Some events may not look exactly the same, however we want to offer students some year end activities we are accustomed to, including field day, 3rd grade lock in, and preschool year end celebration. During all year end activities, parents will celebrate from afar through ZOOM, pictures and video as we still are not able to have parents join us. Students will follow all our health and safety guidelines.
An additional celebration: ALL students at Dorr Elementary will have the opportunity to get 8 free books this summer through a grant funded program called Kids Read Now. Mr. Augustin has been busy meeting with students to pick out books. Further information will be in your child’s go home folder and through IC.
Thank you for your continued support through this year,
Important Reminder To Parents
As you have seen in our recent communication, Dorr Elementary has had some cases of COVID 19. In an effort to promote health and safety in our community, please wear a mask and respect social distancing while waiting in the pick up line at the end of the day. If you forget your mask we ask that you wait in your car until the line subsides and then walk to the door.
Your efforts to help curb the spread of COVID 19 is greatly appreciated,
Mr. Augustin Answers Your Tough Questions
This week's question is: What is the Dorr Daily Roar Award?
At Dorr Elementary students are reminded of and practice our 3B’s daily: Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be Safe. I am excited to announce a new daily award titled Dorr’s Daily Roar. Teachers and staff members nominate students that go above and beyond to model what it looks and sounds like to be respectful, responsible, and safe. After nominations, one to two students are selected as the recipient of the award. The students come down to the office to receive their certificate, a positive call home is made to share the wonderful comments that teachers/staff included in the nomination, and students receive a small gift from the office.
Congratulations to the students below for being our Dorr Daily Roar Award Winners!

Student Of The Month - Perseverance
Mrs. Sides Spotlight
Springtime has seen us finishing up our unit on empathy. We've talked about how empathy is understanding how others feel. Lessons have focused on:
- conflicting feelings
- same or different feelings
- predicting feelings
- accepting differences
- caring and helping
We will begin our next unit with the focus being emotional management - what to do with our big feelings.
I am excited to have been able to be in all classrooms to teach these important social skills. I look forward to continuing next year!
