Author Visit!
Orange for the Sunsets - by Tina Athaide
Author Tina Athaide visited Mrs. Lafuze's class to read from her book Orange for the Sunsets. Mrs. Athaide explained how this historical fiction novel tells the story of two best friends who are separated during Idi Amin's decree that Asian Ugandans must leave Uganda. Mrs. Athaide spoke as part of Mrs. Lafuze's First Chapter Friday series. The author sent bookmarks and stickers, which were distributed to Mrs. Lafuze's students at our last book distribution event.
Special thanks to Mrs. Lafuze and to the MVMS Foundation. Mrs. Lafuze used part of her Foundation grant to purchase ten copies of this amazing book for our library to use as literature circle books!
