A Message from Principal Cherry

The students are doing a fantastic job of transitioning from summer brain to school brain! They are jumping into our very demanding new reading curriculum that follows the science of reading. It is an intense curriculum, but it also has great reviews for increasing reading achievement by building both foundational skills and increasing student's core knowledge. A huge shout out to the 5th grade students who have been in charge of raising our flag each morning as well as leading us in the pledge of allegiance! You make us proud!

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Happy September! Welcome back to school. I hope your children are having fun and getting settled with their new teachers. Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with our school rules utilizing our handbook.

As your student's school counselor, I will be teaching social skills lessons in each classroom every other week. All K-6 counselors utilize the digital Second Step curriculum to teach these lessons.

This month, social skills lessons will focus on the brain. This may include age and developmentally appropriate topics such as; ways to focus our brain, what mistakes tell us, practicing new skills, what emotions tell us, and the parts of our brain.

We would like to invite you to support your child's social skill development by talking to them about what they are learning at home. Your involvement and support are essential to ensuring that your child continues to grow and develop in these areas.

If you have any questions, concerns, or needs; please do not hesitate to reach out. We are here to support your child's growth and success.

Best Regards,

Mrs. Catlin
