A big thank you goes out to all parents who donated to our class; the water and snacks were very much appreciated by our students after that very active day.

This week we will continue in Reading, Writing, and Science our STEM Unit of Study. Part 1 we are preparing for not only Part 2 of the unit but also for the Science Olympics competition.

The summative task for this part of the unit is as follows;

How does mechanical energy cause motion and create change? After reading informational texts and experimenting with the marble coasters students will create a presentation that includes their roller coaster's blueprint and explain the importance of motion, gravity, speed, and friction in their design process. They will use text evidence to support their conclusion.


This past we focused on place value, expanded for as well exponents of base ten values, how they relate to place value and how they can be utilized when multiplying multi-digit numbers.

Our first official math test is Monday 9/19/16 our second unit of the year will be about long division.
