WE WILL BE USING THE LOBBY GUARD SYSTEM FOR LATE CHECK-INS AND EARLY CHECKOUTS

LATE ARRIVALS: You will need to bring your child in with your license to complete the late check-in process in order for them to get a tardy slip to take to class.

EARLY CHECKOUTS: You will need to bring your license in to complete the checkout process.

The tardy bell rings at 7:30. Students must be in their classroom by that time to avoid being tardy.

If you sign your student out before 2:30 that is also an unexcused tardy if a doctor's excuse is not provided.

When a student is absent, we ask that you provide a written excuse or Dr. excuse. You can send the excuse in with the student, email to kbratcher@horrycountyschools.net, or fax to 843-365-2764. Students are considered truant after three (3) consecutive or five (5) total unexcused absences not excused by a medical doctor or the principal. Once your child reaches 10 unexcused tardies (late arrival and early dismissal combined) they are considered truant. If your child becomes truant an attendance intervention plan meeting with the principal is required.

We are asking all of our Kingston Cool Cat parents and guardians to fill out a lunch application. Please click the link below.

CAR RIDERS

It is our goal to have a safe arrival and dismissal every day, and we need your help! Your child’s safety is our main concern. Please follow the procedures below.

MORNING DROP OFF· Students may be dropped off at 7:00 a.m.. Breakfast is served from 7:00-7:20 a.m. in the cafeteria. Anyone arriving after 7:20 will not be able to eat breakfast.

· Remain in your car and in a single file line at all times. It is important to keep one lane open for emergency vehicle access if needed.

· Please make sure your child is ready to unload prior to arriving at school (book bag, homework, lunchbox, etc.)

· We will unload 9 cars at a time, and there are 9 numbered stations where you can drop off your child. Duty attendants have been placed at each station to supervise and expedite students getting out of cars – please follow their directions explicitly.

· Please DO NOT drop your child in the teacher’s parking lot. It is very dangerous, and children are not allowed to cross the driveway without a parent.

AFTERNOON PICK-UP

· Students are dismissed at 2:30 p.m.

· Remain in your car and in a single file line at all times. It is important to keep one lane open for emergency vehicle access if needed.

· Display your car rider tag prominently on your dashboard or visor. The front office can provide additional tags if needed. Only those cars with tags will be allowed to pick students up in the line. Others will be asked to park and visit the office for verification.

· We will load 9 cars at a time, and there are 9 numbered stations where you can pick up your child. Duty attendants have been placed at each station to supervise and expedite students getting in cars – please follow their directions explicitly.

· All students must be picked up by 2:50 p.m. Students not picked up by 3:00 p.m. will be sent to our afterschool program, Kid Power, for supervision. The cost will be $10.00 per day, per child, and will be due when you pick up your child.

If for any reason you need to park, please DO NOT park in a handicap parking space if you do not have a handicap sticker.

Counselor Corner

September Life skill for the month- “Kindness”

Kindness is the quality of being thoughtful, friendly, generous, and considerate; considering the needs of others.

What It Looks Like:

• thinking about how our actions might make someone feel

• leaving enough of something for others

• helping someone up from a fall

• asking someone if they are okay

• offering to help someone with a chore or task

• helping others when they are stuck

• sharing

• volunteering your time to help

• being friendly to someone you don’t know well

• giving a compliment; telling someone how nice they are; making someone feel important

Please let me know if there is anything I can do for your child this year!

Let's show our school spirit!

Students are encouraged to wear school colors or Kingston T-shirts every Friday. School colors are blue and white. Wearing school colors each week is a proactive way of reminding students to maintain our safe and caring school. Each class that has at least 50% or more students wearing school colors will have their class name entered in a drawing. Two classes will win the Cool Cat sign to be placed on their door for the week, as well as some type of incentive (candy, ice cream, chips, etc). Each week we hope to choose a different class. Please encourage your child to participate in Spirit Day every Friday!

Congratulations to our Spirit Day Winners last week, Miss Turner's 2nd-grade class and Mr. Lipak's 5th-grade class!
