Charger Check-In
October 20, 2022
A Note from Ms. Owens
Next week, we will be celebrating Red Ribbon Week by focusing our atttention on making healthy choices. Our Student Council has planned a week of fun activities - including a few out of uniform days and some raffles. We will cap our celebrations off with Halloween on Monday, October 31. More details are further down in this Check-In.
In recent weeks, the office has received quite a few emails and phone calls from parents/guardians regarding an email notification that their student has been marked with an unexcused absence. Please know that all attendance is initially taken by classroom teachers. When a child is marked absent, our school information system automatically marks it as an unexcused absence. Our office staff then confirms the absence against parent/guardian messages that we have received. As each student's absence (or tardy) is verified, the absence will be changed to excused or tardy.
On a very different note, one of the unhappy realities we all live with is the need to have lockdown or shelter in place drills with our students, faculty and staff. This year, our annual lockdown drill with the Oak Lawn Police Department the morning of Monday, October 24. The drill will be fully announced to students and teachers will be able to prepare them for the routine/procedure that we will follow.
Please note that extended will not be available the afternoon of Friday, November 18 to allow for that evening's Holiday Wishes Vendor Fair.
As we approach new sports seasons - boys basketball and girls volleyball - adults who are interested in coaching should be sure they have completed all of the necessary trainings and forms for adults who work with any of our students. The Volunteer Compliance Information & Forms are available at the link below. If you have questions about compliance, please contact Miss Soch.
