THERE'S NO WAY TO THANK YOU ENOUGH!!

Today was Grandparents & Grandfriends Day! It is a huge event, and the Sunflower staff cannot make it happen without the assistance from many, many people.

Nikki McClure, Jesi Jones, Anthony Fleuren, Clint Newton, & Chris Savedra - our Watch D.O.G. and Eagle M.O.M. volunteers

Stefani Elliott and Sherry Hunt - our #1 substitutes

Meghan Miller - our official photographer

Ron Stricker of Stricker's Auction for letting staff park in his parking lot to open up spaces for our guests.

Great Life Golf & Fitness for loaning us 2 golf carts to transport our guests to and from the parking lot.

John Duncanson, Ryan Colston, Annette Lane, Robin Droge, Kyle Cochran & Wes Rains - our golf cart drivers who braved the cold and provided great conversation with our guests

Every parent who helped in the book fair (I would try and list everyone by name, but I'm so afraid that I will leave someone out!)

Debbie Lee and her kitchen crew

Amy Droegemeier from Nutrition Services

James Darnell, Bryan Stephenson & Red Ingle, our custodians

USD231 Maintenance for delivering our tables and chairs and golf carts.

Sunflower grandparents and grandfriends who traveled from near and far to enjoy the day with their little ones.

Sunflower teachers for creating special activities for our guests and students.

And last, but not least, every single staff member who stepped outside of their normal everyday roles to greet & usher our guests, host in the lounge, clean lunch tables, set up and take down, and tackle every other last minute task.

You all are amazing and we could not begin to thank you enough!

Site Council

The Sunflower Site Council will be meeting at 6 pm in the library on the following dates: 9/17/19, 11/12/19, 2/11/20, 4/14/20.

All meetings are open to the public.

Kansas schools are required to establish site councils composed of the principal, teachers and other school personnel, parents, business representatives, and other community groups.

Site councils have a responsibility to provide advice and counsel in the following areas: evaluating district and school performance goals and objectives, determining methods to meet those goals and objectives, and other areas as requested by the board of education.

Remember, the work of the site council is advisory only; it makes recommendations, not decisions.

Sunflower PTO

Our Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) has been an integral part of Sunflower Elementary for many years. Through fundraisers and fun events, they are able to provide funds to teachers, classrooms, and the school.

We invite everyone to join the Sunflower PTO Facebook page. By searching "Gardner Sunflower PTO" under Pages, you will be able to join the group and receive updated PTO information.
