EJMS Jaguar Weekly Aug. 15 - 19
Keeping our School Community in the Know
It's our First Full Week!
EJMS Families,
We want to thank you for a great first three days of school! We had an excellent start to this school year! I had the opportunity to speak with a reporter from the Jessamine Journal on Friday and she asked what I was most excited about this school year. My response: “from the moment I started at East Middle I was told that there was a family feel among the staff and students and these past two years have lived up to that description in every way. I love seeing how the staff does whatever it takes to make sure students are successful. And then to see the difference it makes in their students makes the kids smile even more and they enjoy coming here. I think because students were wearing masks last year on the first day I didn’t realize how much I had missed seeing their back to school smiles.” Hopefully, you and your students have had time to rest over the weekend and those smiles are again shining brightly on Monday morning!
After the first day with heavy rain at dismissal things have continued to get smoother with drop off and pick up. Thank you for your assistance in following these new procedures to keep everyone safe. Just a reminder that we ask that all parents use the Red Oak entrance and access road for both morning and afternoon (see details and highlighted route below) in order to keep traffic off of Highway 169.
AM Drop off and PM Pickup Procedures
Morning Drop Off:
If you are the first car in line please pull all the way forward to the sign on the sidewalk (represented with a star image below).
Cars need to pull forward until they reach the car in front of them or arrive at the starting point to form the car line.
Students should exit out of the car at any point where there is a sidewalk.
Please use the car line for drop off instead of dropping off in the parking lot.
Afternoon Pick Up:
Please pull forward to begin the car line or until you reach the next car.
Students will get in their car when it stops at the curb.
Once your child is in the car, please move to the left side of the car line and continue exiting out of the parking lot.
Note: we will not allow any student to cross the crosswalk to go into the parking lot until all cars have moved through the car line. We encourage all parents to get in line for pickup and use the system we have in place. If you still choose to pick your child up from the parking lot please know that they will not be released until all traffic is clear from the car line pickup area.
Chromebooks
We will begin issuing Chromebooks to students on Monday, August 15th. In order for students to receive a Chromebook, we must have the following items completed or turned in:
Online Registration must be complete (https://www.jessamine.k12.ky.us/News/olr#sthash.eEPnTEqY.zx0QtWUg.dpbs)
School Fees must be paid in Infinite Campus
Any 2021-2022 fees incurred due to damage to Chromebook or missing charger
Chromebook Contract filled out and signed by parent/guardian (students received a copy on Wednesday, August 8th)
On OLR there is a technology agreement, but this is only for the Acceptable Use Policy for using technology. Please note that we must have all parents fill out the Chromebook Contract for their child.
Please see information from our nurse, Erin Banks regarding physicals, immunizations, and health conditions requiring medication:
As we start this new school year, we will need your students' updated physicals and immunizations (this is for all grade levels). Please contact your child's pediatrician to see if they need to be updated.
All 6th graders are required to have a 6th grade physical and their 6th-grade immunizations on file. Please make sure we have these on file before the first day of school. If your child has a religious exemption and does not contain the current immunizations in a current form we will need a new form on file.
Also if your child has a medical condition that will require any medications that will need to be at school with them, or given by the nurse you will need to have an updated authorization to administer form filled out and given to the nurse along with the medication. This applies even if your child will be carrying an inhaler, epi-pen, seizure medications, diabetic medications, or any other emergency medications in their backpacks or with them at all times. If you have any questions please feel free to email our nurse, Erin Banks at erin.banks@jessamine.kyschools.us.

Everyone is welcome!
