Delaney Elementary School
Monthly Newsletter - October Issue
Successful Start!
Dear Delaney School Families,
We have had a terrific start to the 2020-2021 school year. Students, staff members, and families have adjusted to our new safety routines and procedures. Thank you all for your cooperation in helping to make the start to our year safe and successful.
Students and teachers have settled into their daily routines, and the classes are invested in learning. We are all respectful, responsible, and ready to learn each and every day in the Delaney School.
The teachers are looking forward to having you join their Virtual Open House sessions tomorrow night. Thank you for taking the time to meet the teachers and learn about curriculum expectations for your children. Children do best when parents and teachers work collaboratively to support them in their academic journey.
Thank you for taking the time to read through this month's Delaney School Newsletter. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Miss Kathleen Maloney

Guidance for When To Keep Your Child Home From School
Please be sure to email the nurses (as well as the teacher) when your child will be absent from school due to illness or injury.
-Fever of 100 degrees or higher
-Cough (not due to other known cause)
-Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
-Headache when in combination with other symptoms
-Sore throat
-Muscle aches or body aches
-Nausea
-Vomiting
-Diarrhea
-Fatigue when in combination with other symptoms
-Nasal congestion or runny nose in combination with other symptoms

It is recommended that your child be evaluated by a healthcare provider, with any of the above symptoms, before returning to school. The healthcare provider should provide the parent with documentation of an illness diagnosis (strep, pneumonia, ear infection, flu).
If your provider does not identify a diagnosis, then a NEGATIVE COVID test is required for your child to return to school.
If your child is dismissed from school with any of the above symptoms, an evaluation by the healthcare provider will be required in order for your child to return to school.
Consultation with the school nurse must occur prior to your child returning to school.
When to Quarantine Your Child at Home
If your child is determined to be a “close contact” of a COVID positive person, your child must be quarantined until you receive contact from the WPS nurse.
If your child's sibling/family member is COVID symptomatic.
