Greens Prairie PTO
NEWSLETTER - DECEMBER 2014
Note From the President
It dawned on me today that this will be our last newsletter for 2014. Wow! This year has just flown by! We have two more weeks of school before the holiday break, and they are going to be PACKED with all kinds of activities! We have our 4th Annual Mustang Market, our 2nd Annual Breakfast with Santa, holiday parties, holiday programs, and many opportunities for our Mustangs to give back to the community.
The PTO Board is looking forward to a nice restful break with our families and we want to wish each and every family at GPE, Happy Holidays, a very Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year!
Look for our next newsletter in January, with a great lineup of Spring activities!
-Lara Lewis, President
PAJAMA DAY - MONDAY, DECEMBER 8TH
GPE gives back! All mustangs who wish to donate $1.00, may wear their pajamas to school on Monday! Money raised from this event will be donated to help purchase safety/bullet proof vests for three Precinct 1 Brazos County Constables. Wear your PJs and help a very important cause!
Parents, three of our local Constables do not have bullet proof vests to wear while on duty. The cost of these life saving vests is aroud $1,000.00 each. GPE and the PTO will be looking for creative ways for the kids to help us raise the money to donate to the Precinct to purchase the vests. If you would like to help, please contact either Principal Donna Bairrington, or PTO President Lara Lewis. Thank you!
MUSTANG MARKET and BREAKFAST WITH SANTA
We will be hosting our 4th annual Mustang Market this week. Thursday and Friday will be student shopping days. Look for a letter and envelope to come home on Monday. This is not a PTO fundraiser. All money from the event goes directly back to the school to support the Greens Prairie activities fund.
On Saturday, December 13th, from 8:00am - 11:00am, please make plans to join us for our 2nd annual Breakfast With Santa! We will have a free pancake breakfast, free pictures with Santa, shopping at our Mustang Market, storytime with Mrs. Claus, a performance by the Lil' Wranglers, and a station for writing letters to Santa! More details about the Saturday event will be coming home on Monday as well.
We need a lot of volunteers this week! If you have an hour to give, please click here to sign up!
College Station ISD has made a commitment to remain transparent and engaged with our community. Leadership CSISD allows parents, community leaders and business partners the ability to get an “up-close and personal” look at how the district operates.
An Inside Look
Leadership College Station ISD is an opportunity for community members to get an inside look at the goals, operations and culture of College Station ISD. During the program, Leadership CSISD participants will have several opportunities to interactively explore first-hand how it all works and offer insightful feedback that supports CSISD’s continuous improvement efforts.
Who Should Apply
Because we would like to be sure we are reaching our target audiences of community members, parents, and business owners, we ask that participants not be employees of the district or current Board of Trustee members. Additionally, we ask that our applicants be committed to attending all of the meetings if possible. To graduate from Leadership CSISD’s Class of 2015, participants may miss no more than one meeting. DEADLINE TO APPLY IS FRIDAY, DECEMBER 12th. Click HERE for the application.
By meeting five times during the spring of 2015, participants will get to know some of the people who are responsible for programs and services, and see how the district creates a climate of success for our rapidly growing, diverse student population. Our 2015 Leadership CSISD class of approximately 25 members will also be able to build relationships with district leaders and others in our community during this semester-long experience.
