Principal's Post - A Weekly Note From Mr. Ortman
Happy Friday!
Our goal at Mill Creek is to provide all students with a safe and respectful learning environment. In order to support that goal, we use positive reinforcement to recognize students who are following the CREEKERS’ Code.
We also have a consequence system, Mill Creek Behavior Notices and Conduct Cards, for students who make choices not consistent with the CREEKERS’ Code. Behavior Notices will be used as a warning system and an opportunity for student reflection. After two behavior notices, a student will receive a conduct card for the next offense.
The consequences for receiving a conduct card are:
- 1st time: Referral to the office and discussion of behavior with Mr. Ortman and/or Mrs. Adelman. Phone call home from the office.
- 2nd time: Loss of Privilege AND Parent meeting with Mr. Ortman and/or Mrs. Adelman. At the meeting we will discuss an individualized plan.
* The Behavior Notices and Conduct Cards are used for typical behaviors that require a consequence. More individualized and involved consequences are used for less typical behaviors that are more severe.
We recognize that all students make mistakes, and we want them to learn from those mistakes. We use these opportunities to discuss your child’s behavior with them and create a goal for the future.
We appreciate your understanding and support!
Sincerely,
Mr. Shawn Ortman
Principal

Happy Friday Creekers!
Last week we welcomed our kindergarten and first grade students and families back to school at our third annual family picnic. All of the families had a great time exploring the playground, GaGa Pit, and dancing. The picnic was a great opportunity to meet new faces and catch up with friends. A big thank you to our Home and School Association for organizing the kindergarten and first grade welcome back picnic! Thank you to all of the staff members that came out to celebrate, too!
Be on the lookout for our family fun activities for each grade level this year. Everything will be posted in our weekly newsletters and monthly calendars!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Amy Adelman
