Changes for 2020-2021
Cohorts for F2F
This year we have developed homeroom cohorts that students will stay with throughout the day. Teachers will switch rooms and students will stay in their homeroom for core classes. Each homeroom cohort will travel to the same specials class, lunch and recess together. Students will be assigned seats in each of these spaces. We developed this plan to keep students and staff safe. Homeroom cohorts will limit the number of people that interact with each other while at school. We were also able to maintain academic programming while developing homeroom cohorts.
Changes to Schedules
We will not consider any schedule changes for this school year. Putting our schedule together this year was a giant puzzle. We made it work, but the pieces only fit together one way. Changes to schedules are not possible as we work to ensure the safest return to school that is possible.
Specials Choices
This year all students will take the same specials courses: Physical Education, Art, Computer Science (5th grade only)/STEAM (6th grade only), and one music course. We are not able to offer multiple music courses to students this school year.
Advanced Art
We are not able to offer Advanced Art this school year. In order to make the schedule work, the number of sections of regular art class did not allow room for Advanced Art.
Music Performances
We will not host in person music performances this school year. Given the current orders by the department of health, this is not possible.
Specials Rotations
We will not follow the A-D specials rotation this school year. Instead, students will switch specials at the semester. We will continue to provide students with two specials bells per day.
Instrumental Music Groupings
Instrumental music classes will be heterogeneously mixed this year. We were unable to develop cohorts of students based on the specific instrument they chose.
General Music/Choir
This school year General Music and Choir will be combined. Teachers will be working to synthesize curriculum for the two classes to create an experience where students learn about music theory and participate in vocal singing when district established criteria for safety is met.
Media Center
We will not offer Media Center as a special or allow classes to go into the Media Center this school year. Too much of the equipment in our Media Center/Makerspace is not able to be sanitized properly. We are looking to expand the number of e-books students have access to and will be providing instructions on how to access them in Language Arts class. Teachers will also be able to check out class sets of books for students that align to the standards in their class. Please keep in mind that these sets cannot be shared among students.

Updating Final Forms
As in the past, we need ALL parents or guardians to log into Final Forms and update any necessary changes for our 2020-2021 school year ASAP. Also newly added is a Covid-19 Parent Agreement that must be signed before the school year begins. You are required to sign the forms at the beginning of each new school year. A signature is also required after any update or as additional forms are added.
We are asking that ALL parents of students log into FinalForms and complete their forms for the 2020-2021 school year ASAP so that potential issues/problems/questions can be addressed before our return to school in September. Some forms require a student signature.
