As we learn more about the collaborative process together, we can use a process for identifying essential learning outcomes.
This is the video that was shown at the staff meeting last week. Each content team completed a reflection based on their work so far this year. The video includes references to this Essential Standard Chart.

We are looking for a team of teachers that would like to use the feedback from last week's survey to create a student code of conduct or clear expectations for our school. Please let Lance, Lisa or Vicki know if you would like to be part of the team.

Time to Master Our Process
Autonomy
This week we would like to celebrate the 8th grade Math content team. They have been steadily working with the autonomy of a team to make learning better for all students. Here are some highlights:
- Brenda and Tammy K have been working closer together than ever with the addition of team time. They have used the time to bounce ideas off one another and student learning has benefited as a result. Here are some examples they have listed:
- The team developed a new Translation/Dilation activity that incorporated student choice and focus on making an appealing design. The team was also able to make a connection to careers that use the strategy as part of the design process. This link is an example of student work
- The 8th grade Math students have benefited from a lesson design around stations. The teachers used it as a response to common formative assessment results and each station targeted a specific skill for growth.
- The team has made use of district sponsored coaching opportunities. Feedback from coaches has helped the team to re-commit to giving responsibility for discussion back to the students. The team shared different strategies to accomplish this work.
- The team has begun discussions around sharing big picture progress with students. Some of this discussion has included the idea of using essential skills and asking students to track their own progress in the skills.
