Reflections on Project Attitude of Gratitude
"I really enjoyed taking part in this. Every step made me feel more engaged in the HeMS community."
- Stella Mulhollan, Nurse
"In FAC, we were grateful for this opportunity to do for others and complete this project as a team. What was really cool, was tagging our students along and allowing them to be part of this experience. This project was also confirmation and conviction to our hearts. Individually, I believe we felt the need to give more and to be satisfied with a giving, helping heart."
- FAC staff: Patti Cole, Gracie Pereida, Melanie Angulo
"When I read the requirements, my initial thought was that this was going to be easy-peasy. It wasn't! I had to make an effort and go out of my way, or step out of my comfort zone to complete the list with 100% effort. It's easy to just say thank you...but it's more meaningful when you take the time to show you're thankful. Thank you for this beautiful challenge!"
- Mpumi Masuku, Athletics
"We are called to love our neighbors. What better way than to be a bright spot in someone's day with a kind word or act that costs us nothing, with no expectation in return. I enjoyed this challenge, and especially loved seeing others receive joy in giving."
- Cherri Urban, Library Assistant
"Beautiful project! Loved that it included a variety of ways to be thankful and that most could remain anonymous. It's a deep gratitude that stems from this project and I really appreciate you putting it together."
- Samantha Guerrero, Athletics
"Acts of kindness always make me feel better about the world. I think this list made me mindful that I need to try to expand my circle of giving and step outside my comfort zone. Everyone appreciates a small word of encouragement or act of kindness."
- Wendy Tucker, Librarian
"It was a great feeling, helping others. Knowing God guided me to do wonderful things for others and not worrying about getting anything in return is truly a blessing."
- Teri Flores, Athletics
"This was a fun project in the middle of lots to do - a great reminder to stay focused on being thankful and not get derailed by stress or being busy. Thanks for organizing it!"
- Sara Amy, Choir
"I loved the thank you note activity. Not only did it make me feel good, but I received thanks back from the thank you note I wrote. Sometimes it is difficult to stop and be grateful for the things in our lives, and it feels good to say thanks every once in a while."
- Mandy West, Band
"It always feels good to put a smile on someone's face."
- Elenor Gahchan, FOCUS
"I really enjoyed doing these acts of kindness. It wasn't difficult, didn't take too much time, but it created a lot of smiles and built some closer bonds on campus. I'm very glad I participated and have set a personal goal to keep it going."
- Amanda Painter, 7th Grade ELA
"This was fabulous! I loved being showered with notes, and showering others with joy."
- Kelly Perch, 6th grade Science
"How it made me feel was...it made me feel a lot better about this week - it has been a tough one to get through!"
- Jennifer Gregorcyk, 6th Grade Math
