Hybrid Update
The district met with Dr. Spitters from the Snohomish County Health District last week. The current rate of infection per 100,000 over a 14-day period has increased significantly over the past 4 weeks.
According to the new Decision Tree from the Department of Health, we are now in the “High Range” of COVID-19 activity level (101.1). This new decision tree included several changes:
Continued distance learning is still strongly recommended, with limited in-person learning for younger learners (especially K-3) and high need students (e.g., disabilities, homelessness, farthest from educational justice)
In-person learning for older students is discouraged, except high need students, particularly at the current level and trajectory of COVID-19 activity in the community.
Strongly recommend canceling or postponing most in-person extracurricular activities, including sports, performances, clubs, events, and such, with the option to allow extracurricular activities in small groups of six or fewer students.
Additional information provided included a “slight uptick” in infection rate of 0-19 year olds. Attached to this email is the presentation given by Dr. Spitters this afternoon, and the Snohomish County Health District’s press release.
We were relieved to hear Dr. Spitters’ guidance to allow districts to continue serving Kindergarten through 3rd grade students and special populations. He has recommended that school districts hold off on bringing additional students for in person learning. In light of this guidance we are postponing in person learning for our 4th and 5th grade students until November 9. We will now be meeting with Dr. Spitters and the health district weekly and the district will adjust plans as metrics and guidance change.
Halloween Celebrations

Hybrid students may have classroom celebrations, so look for more information from your child's teacher. If you are sending a treat to share they must be store bought and individually packaged. No open food containers or drinks will be allowed to meet safety guidelines.

PTA Virtual Jog-A-Thon
You did it! Twin City students beat their fundraising goal of $7,000 and so far have raised an impressive $8200! We enjoyed the photos and videos of students jogging, walking, and running. Thank you for your participation.
It is not too late to register at www.getmovinfundhub.com and input the code 5f7b57b89e09d to collect donations online. If you prefer to collect cash or check, please make payable to TCE PTA and return to school by October 28.
Top prize winners will be announced the week of November 2-6 and prizes will be distributed as soon as possible. Mrs. Allen is already shopping for a WSU sweatshirt (boo!) since we met our fundraising goal.

Counselor Corner with Mrs. Schwarze
Happy Halloween Tigers! I hope you enjoy this week and find ways to have fun with your family and friends while keeping safe. We will wrap up our month of focusing on courage this week! What did you learn about courage? How have you been using courage at school and at home? Sit down for a family game night to play Courage Charades to review all the things you have been learning about courage. Have each family member write down a couple actions that take courage (i.e giving a speech, diving off the diving board, making a new friend, etc.) on slips of paper and put them in a hat. Divide into teams. One team member will draw a slip out of a hat and act it out to their team. Continue until all the slips have been acted out. Keep score or don’t, the point is to have fun!
Counselor Corner slide decks will be new each Monday and you can find these in your Google Classroom, Seesaw or a link on Clever. Take time this week to check them out!
