Big picture

Great to Be Back!

It has been a wonderful week of reconnecting with your children after the break. It is clear that they enjoyed quality time with you during their time off from school. Teachers have jumped right back into teaching and learning. Students are excited and enthusiastic about sharing their writing, problem solving strategies, and perspective. I learn something new about the human body every day in K/1 :).

Thank you to our parent volunteers who have come to help with farm and special projects and lessons. We are hopeful for more opportunities to have parents re-join us on campus. I will keep you posted when we can open the Willy Wonka gates. We miss and need you!

Traffic is busy at drop-off and pick-up as we all enter and leave through the front of the school. I am continuing to work with Friends on the possibility of reopening the back gate on Colorado. There are a few requests we are discussing to ensure safety and a respected partnership. In addition to a crossing guard, we will need two parent volunteers each day to help monitor the Friends parking lot and the back gate for drop-off and pick-up. If you are interested, please email me at dyoshinaga@pausd.org. It doesn't have to be every day. We need you, village!

The picture above is a "Fall Tree Reflections" art piece from Cluster 2. Beautiful! I hope you enjoy spending time with your amazing children this weekend. It feels like popcorn and a movie tonight!

Inclusive Schools Week

Next week is the official Inclusive Schools Week. At Ohlone, we typically celebrate in January as December is often very busy! This year, Inclusive Schools Week is scheduled for the week of January 10th. Thank you to Jay and PTA for helping to organize activities for the week :).

Pajama Day - Tuesday, December 14

Student Council has approved its first Spirit Day this year. Pajama Day with Stuffies! If your child chooses to bring a stuffie, it must fit in the palm of their hand (per Student Council). They may also want to leave their very favorite one at home if they are worried about losing it. Thank you!

Ohlone Times 11th Edition

5th Grade Music

There was an update to the California Department of Public Health Guidelines on 11/24/21 in regards to band. Students who are using musician's masks and bell covers while playing wind and brass instruments may now be spaced 3ft apart while playing indoors. More information about the update can be found on the CDPH website here.

Health & Safety

We are continuing to reinforce the Covid safety protocols at school. Thank you for your partnership in keeping all students well by keeping your children home when they are sick.

We appreciate your open and timely communication about illness and potential Covid exposure. As you know, time is of the essence for notification. Please email ohloneattendance@pausd.org and copy me as soon as possible should your child test positive or be identified as a close contact outside of school. Thank you, again.
