Campus Attendance Goal is 97.5%

This week our Attendance was 93.63%

Dear Herff Family,

It is hard to believe that today marks the end of the 1st 9-weeks for the school year. It seems like just the other day we were celebrating the first day of school! It has been amazing watching our #herffhawks family find their groove and making memories together. Some of the things to celebrate from our 1st 9-weeks together would have to be celebrating our Grandparents and Grandfriends during lunch, kicking off our WatchDOGS program, celebrating Cameron P. as our Player of the Game, our first annual Hispanic Cultural Night, and a great first Donuts with Grownups.

Just a few of the things that we are looking forward to in the 2nd 9-weeks are Red Ribbon Week, opportunities to give back to our community, more amazing PTO events for the whole family, the 4th Grade Musical, Veterans Day celebrations, a Scholastic Book Fair, the Polar Express Transformation and so many more things!

We truly hope that you and your family are able to relax and recharge during Fall Break. We cannot wait to see the great things that our #herffhawks family will continue to do this school year!

National Instructional Coach Day

We are so thankful for our Campus Instructional Coach, Mrs. Stephanie Edmondson! She is such an asset to our campus and truly makes a difference for each and every student and staff member!

National Instructional Coach Day is on October 6th, but Mrs. Edmondson really deserves to be celebrated every day!

We have an exciting event planned for the week of October 17th!

We will be collecting Pull-ups for an organization that is near and dear to our hearts 1HOPE for Kids.

To learn more about them and the love that they are spreading in and around our community please visit their website: https://1hopeforkids.org.

We are honored to work with them this year and hope to do more with them in the future.

We thank you in advance for your generosity and continued love and support.

Student Food Deliveries

Just a friendly reminder that we are unable to accept Uber, Door Dash, or Favor food orders for students at our campus. These deliveries are often not on time and arrive after the student's lunch time. Parents are still welcome to drop off lunch for students in the office and it can be delivered to them for lunch.

See Something, Say Something

School safety is very important, and it's up to all of us to work together as a team to prevent bad things from happening.

If we all stay alert and work as a team to report dangerous or suspicious activity, we can help keep our schools safe.

Weekly Reminders

Transportation Changes

In order to help dismissal run smoothly, all transportation changes should be communicated with the front office no later than 2:30 p.m. This allows time for these changes to be shared with teachers and students.

If you call after 2:30 p.m. the office will transfer you to the classroom, but it is possible the teacher may not answer if they are teaching.

Early Pickups

If you need to pick up your student(s) early from school you will need to do so by 2:45 p.m. After 2:45 p.m. classes are getting ready for dismissal and students can sometimes be difficult to locate.

Lunch Visitors

Please note the following procedures that will be in place to help this process go smoothly when it begins.

  • Visitors MUST check in at the front office by presenting their ID and obtain a visitor's pass.
  • Visitors will be able to eat with their student(s) outside in our courtyard. We have wonderful picnic tables. No friends or classmates will be able to join.
  • You are welcome to bring food for your student(s), but it cannot be shared with other classmates.
  • Visitors will NOT be able to walk with students back to their class after lunch.

Scheduled Lunch Times

Pre-K: 11:00-11:30 a.m.

Kindergarten: 10:15-10:45 a.m.

1st Grade: 10:45-11:15 a.m.

2nd Grade: 12:15-12:45 p.m.

3rd Grade: 11:50-12:20 p.m.

4th Grade: 12:45-1:15 p.m.

5th Grade: 11:35-12:05 p.m.

Crosswalk Reminders

We have many of our Herff students who use the crosswalk on Esperanza Blvd. to travel to and from school. Student safety is of the utmost importance to us. Please remember the following during morning arrival and afternoon departure.

  • All vehicles should stop at the crosswalk when pedestrians are present.
  • Be on the lookout, especially in the mornings when it is still dark.
  • The crosswalk is also in the school zone, therefore all vehicles should adhere to the posted speed limit sign of 20 mph.

We appreciate your help in ensuring the safety of our students.

Water Bottles

Please remember to send a water bottle with your child each day that is labeled with their name. We will have a water bottle filling station available for students to refill their water throughout the day if needed and an option for students if they do not have a water bottle.

Birthday Treats

We are excited to celebrate student birthdays at school this year. All birthday treats must be store-bought and individually wrapped if possible or in the original container from the store.

All foods brought to campus for special occasions such as birthdays MUST have an FDA approved label with ingredients and allergens legibly listed.

It is best to have treats delivered to the office by your child's lunch so they can be eaten in the afternoon.

Birthday Marquee Announcements

Don't forget to celebrate your student on their birthday with an announcement on our marquee! Please purchase your announcement at least two weeks prior to the birthday date. The child's first name only will run on the marquee the entire week of their birthday. All funds go to back to support our school!
