Nova Blanche Forman Families,

This has been a challenging year for all of us. There is no other way to say it. Many of us have had challenges in our personal lives and professional lives. At our school, it is no different. We are not immune from many of the stresses and challenges that have been in existence during this pandemic.

However, we are all doing our very best. We trust that we are going to get through every challenge and obstacle together. Education has always been evolving, but COVID-19 has forced it to become a version that no one ever anticipated. Now that we have had time to adjust, we feel like we are meeting the needs of our students the same as we always have, it just looks different.

Before focusing on the academic needs of our students, we needed to be certain that they are safe and healthy. We have welcomed back students to our campus in phases. Being slow and methodical has provided us with an opportunity to verify that our systems and procedures are sound. That does not mean that we are immune completely. However, it does mean that we are lessening our risk any way we know how. We have close to 25% of our students attending e-Learning on campus. As of the release of this newsletter, we are not aware of any positive COVID-19 cases at Nova Blanche Forman.

As I said at the onset, this has been a challenging time. Thanksgiving might look a little different this year, but it doesn’t take away from how much thanks I have for my own family and the Nova Blanche Forman family. Please join me in thanking all of our educators. They care and love your children in a way that makes any parent feel comfortable. Thank our clerical staff, custodial staff, cafeteria staff, support staff, transportation staff, etc. We all, happily, put it all on the line each day for our children and families.

We are also thankful for our Nova Blanche families. Your support and understanding during these times has meant the world. Thank you.

Stay safe, stay healthy, and enjoy your Thanksgiving holiday.

Mr. Schwartz

NOVA BLANCHE FORMAN ELEMENTARY PTA - - - - - - - - - - “A little bit of time, makes a BIG difference!”

Dear Families, on behalf of the NBF PTA, we would like to welcome everyone back to school!

What is PTA?

 PTA stands for Parent-Teacher Association, consisting of parents and teachers working together to support and enrich all students.

 We support school staff, help promote student self-esteem, and assist in efforts to solve school needs through volunteering and funding.

What is the PTA and who can be a member?

 The PTA is made up of our Principal, Mr. Russell Schwartz, Assistant Principal Mrs. Janet Calamaro, the PTA Board and last but not least, our wonderful school staff and volunteers. So, who can be a member?

 Are you a mother, father, guardian, grandparent, aunt, uncle, member of the community and/or a person who teaches/instructs at NBF? If you answered yes, we would like for you to become a member. We are always seeking volunteers and welcome everyone’s participation. PTA Programs & Fundraising

 Our primary objective as a PTA is to provide our school with funds, programs, resources, and services that will enrich and maximize the education of every child and benefit the school.

 To meet this important objective, we fundraise. Here are a few fundraisers and programs that we sponsor and/or support:

 Fundraisers: Box Tops for Education Program, Fall/Spring Portraits, Family Nights, Penny Wars, Titan Uniform Wear, Scholastic Book Fairs, Fall Catalog and Holiday Boutique, textile recycling (drop off your clothing etc. in the bins in the parking lot), Business Sponsored Banners, Yearbook and Spirit days.

 Programs: STEM family night, Accelerated Reader, Reading across Broward, Student Outreach, Presidential Awards Pins and several other enrichment programs.

What We Accomplished Last Year

Fall Catalogue raised $3,100

Holiday Boutique raised $1,200

Titan Uniform Wear raised $2,500 Box Tops/Spirit Days $1,100

Penny Wars raised $1,320

Spring Portraits raised $311

Based on the funds raised we were able help fund:

 Student and Staff Agendas, Scholastic Newsletters and Science Spin, Accelerated Reader  Academic Awards and Reading Across Broward Awards, NEAT Club, Safety Patrol, Red Ribbon Day, Career Day/Staff Welcome Back Breakfast and much more!!!!!

2020-2021 School Year

 Our theme remains as: Nurture. Bloom. Flourish. Evolve.

Become a Volunteer….Why YOU should get involved!

 Research shows that parent involvement in their child’s education is the Number #1 influencer for them doing better in school.

 Everyone benefits when YOU volunteer. The volunteers, the students, the school and our community.

 The PTA is a team effort and we cannot succeed on our own. We are a small and busy group and we and your child(ren) need your help!

 There are so many ways to get involved even if you only have a few minutes a week. We can ALWAYS use your time, talent or resources.

How do I become a Volunteer?

 Complete and submit a volunteer application with Broward County Public Schools and get approved, link below.

Link to Apply: https://www.browardschools.com/Page/32043

A special thanks to all of our volunteers from last year for all their hard work and dedication.

This year we started out a bit differently as we are virtual. With that said, we will need your help more than EVER to help us get through it.

 We will be hosting virtual general meeting and virtual fundraising events.

 We ask that you join the PTA. The membership fee is $5.00 and it can be done via our online line store, Memberhub Commerce Store.

School begins promptly at 9:30 AM. Students being transported to school by car must not arrive before 9:00 AM. Upon arriving late, after 9:30 AM, students must come to the front office to be admitted to class. Except in cases of a late bus, students will be marked tardy at 9:30 AM. As per the School Board of Broward County Discipline Matrix, habitual tardies can result in consequences such as time out, detention, social worker interventions and/or rescission of Nova placement.

Children are dismissed at 3:30 PM. If a student is to be picked up early, a note must be given to the classroom teacher in the morning. No child is permitted to leave the school at any time prior to the regular dismissal time unless he/she is signed out in the front office. Students will not be called to the office for early dismissal after 3:00 PM. Only persons listed on the registration form will be permitted to sign out a child.

Per School Board Policy, there will be no dismissal after 3:00 PM. Dismissal begins at 3:30 PM. If your child is a car rider, please be on time, in an emergency call the office.

Children who are car riders at dismissal will be seated according to grade level. Parents who do not wish to park, must wait in the car line. Parents need to wait outside, not in the front office. Students will not be released to meet parents across the parking lot. Names of children and their grade level should be placed in the windshield of the passenger side of the car. It is of extreme importance that children be picked up on time or enrolled in the After Care program at Nova Blanche Forman. Parents who habitually pick their child(ren) up late will be referred to the school social worker.

To ensure the success of your children, it is important that they be in school on time and that they remain in school through the end of the day.
