Who settled there?
This colony that was renamed by the British, [as New York now] had people from the Netherlands.The Netherlands that people called Holland ,is a country in Northern Europe. The settlers who lived there are called Dutch.
Geography
New York's geography is a perfect place for a colony.The Harbor was a ideal for shipping and trade.The valleys of the Hudson and Mohawk rivers were well for farming and trade.Iron was a well mineral was avalible to be mined.
Weather
Winters in New york were very cold.The summers were hot and humid.But in long valleys and along the coast made farming easier than New England.
The Economy
New Yorks economy offered jobs but also used the unpaid work of others . Farmers grew wheat, corn, veggtables , and tobacco.Other New Yorkers miners, lumbermen, sailors, trappers, craftsmen and servents or slaves.
Goverment
Colonists had little to say in New Yorks goverment.The colony had a powerful govener who was appointed by British royailty.The govener appointed other officals and inforced laws.
