ACES Family Update

Attendance Works!
Dear ACES Families,
The staff at Anderson-Crawford Elementary School, ACES, are excited to be well into the new school year filled with opportunities to learn and engage!
Getting into the habit of daily attendance is more important than ever. It helps to:
● reduce stress
● make it easier to connect with friends and teachers
● support learning
● Please call us if you need help with attendance. Mrs. Ann Kennedy, our Counselor, can be reached at 907-372-3306, or Ann.Kennedy@k12northstar.org.
We are working to make our school environment a place where everyone can be safe, healthy and learning. We will do our best to listen and partner with you so that our children have a successful year. Let's work together to:
Keep Safe – Key steps include: Teaching children about abuse prevention using our Safer, Smarter Kids program and using ALiCE techniques to train students in ways to respond in an emergency. We are also teaching children conflict resolution skills through our Getting Along Together program.
Keep Healthy – Make sure students get sleep, eat well and exercise. Miss Duffield has a robust PE program that makes moving fun! Our custodians keep the building clean and sanitary. If you are not certain whether to send your child to school due to illness, call 907-372-3306 to discuss the situation.
Keep Connected – Families, join us at one of our conferences this fall. Also, think about joining the PTO and helping out at events. It is a great way to get to know others and stay connected to the school. Students in grades 4-5 watch for information about our STEAM Club which begins the week of October 3.
Keep Learning – If your child has to stay home because of illness, please contact your child's teacher for a plan to continue learning and let Mrs. Higdon know that your child will be out.
● Please make sure we have your correct email and the best phone numbers where we can reach you.
We miss our students when they are not here and love it when we see their smiling faces.
Do not hesitate to reach out to me with questions or concerns.
Very Respectfully,
Teresa Lesage, Principal

ALICE Lessons to begin at Anderson-Crawford Elementary School October 3
Hello ACES Families,
ALiCE lessons and training will begin at our school on October 3, 2022. I will be introducing students to the ALiCE lessons during regularly scheduled music classes. I will do my best to introduce these lessons in a manner children can understand without causing unnecessary fear. However, each child will respond to and process this information in their own way. Please be prepared to help answer questions at home, and especially to reassure your child that by being prepared we are all more safe. If you would like to preview the materials, I welcome you to review them at: https://www.alicetraining.com/our-program/alice-training/k12-education/age-appropriate/
If you have any questions, please contact me at 907-372-3306, or by email at Teresa.Lesage@k12northstar.org.
