Mission Statement

The Eucharistic community of Saint Paschal Baylon Catholic School

focuses on Christ-centered values and develops the unique potential of each student

through a rigorous and engaging curriculum.

Important Information from the Principal

Dear SPB Families,

At this time, we are moving forward with returning to in-person learning for all students preschool through 8th grade on Monday, December 7 and for those families who choose this option for their child/children. K-8 families do have the option to have their children learn remotely from home. We simply ask you to contact the office and your child’s teacher/teachers of your desire. Everyone should have the device they need to continue with remote learning.

After much discussion with our administrative team as well as other area principals, we want to make you aware of a few things:

  • If your family traveled to a state on the advisory list or if you spent time with those outside your family bubble, please remain at home for the 14 days recommended by the CDC.

  • If your child exhibits even one symptom on the list of common COVID-19 symptoms, please keep them at home. Children and adults who are only experiencing what they would normally consider to be a minor symptom are testing positive. Please don’t brush it off as nothing. We want to keep all of our students and faculty/staff members safe, but we need everyone to closely monitor their symptoms and consider the common good.

  • We will continue with the protocols we have in place, although we will now require masks to be worn by K-8 students at all times during the school day except for lunch. Masks need to be worn during recess and gym. Please make sure your child’s mask fits properly, that they have an extra or two in their bookbags, and that they are washed regularly.

Please know that we may need to pivot at any point over the next two weeks and beyond based on our COVID numbers and staffing shortages. We thank you for your patience, support, and understanding during these challenging times.

Remote Learning Option for December

We know that there are some families who would like to continue remote learning between Thanksgiving and Christmas which is certainly allowed. We simply ask you to notify the office and your child’s teacher/teachers of your desire.

COVID-19 Travel Advisory

With Thanksgiving last week, we know that some families traveled out of state. We need your help to ensure that we can offer in-person learning safely. If your family traveled to a state that is on the Ohio Department of Health's COVID-19 Travel Advisory List, it is recommended by ODH that your child quarantine for 14 days upon return. Your child can move to online learning during this period. We need families to take this responsibility. The states on the list have a positivity rate of 15% or higher. The list of states is updated every Wednesday. The most recent one can be found here. Thank you!

We Give Catholic Thank You!

We want to express our genuine thanks to our parents, parishioners, faculty/staff, alumni, and friends of Saint Paschal Baylon who donated to our We Give Catholic campaign on Giving Tuesday. We had 73 donors contribute, and we raised an amazing $8,496 which surpassed our total earned last year by nearly $700. The funds raised from this campaign will be used to replace the very old lockers in some of our classrooms. We are blessed by such a supportive community, and we are truly thankful to everyone who supported our cause, especially during this holiday season. God bless each of you!

Tutor Available

We received the following information from Mrs. Elizabeth Souers, mother of SPB students Christina and Daniel:

I want to offer my services as a tutor to all K-8 SPB students FOR FREE until we return to in class learning (and should we ever go remote again later in the year as well). Availability is first come first served (and that may change as students may not need a tutor on a "regular" basis). I can tutor any subject and any grade level (I am a certified teacher; and, while my certifications are P-12 Music and 7-12 Integrated Mathematics, I can tutor all subjects). If you would like more information, please let me know (elizabethm.souers@gmail.com). I created a SignUp Genius "page". Here is the link:

PTO Christmas Gift Program

Each teacher or staff member will receive a personalized letter with a list of all the family names that contributed to their gift.

Ladies Guild Advent Service Calendar

The Ladies Guild has created an Advent Service Calendar for you to use with your family to help prepare for Christmas. Though we can't all be together for a Family Service Night this year, we hope this calendar will give you ideas for ways to serve with your family from home. Please share pictures of your activities on our Facebook page "SPB Ladies Guild" or on instagram at "spb.ladies.guild."

Advent Prayers

Advent Wreath Blessing

adapted from the Book of Blessings, 1528

Lord our God,

we praise you for your Son, Jesus Christ:

You are Emmanuel, the hope of the of the peoples.

You are the wisdom that teaches and guides us.

You are the Savior of every nation.

Lord God,

let your blessing come upon us,

and this wreath,

as we light the candles during this Advent Season.

May the wreath, its light, and our faith

be a sign of Christ’s promise to bring us salvation.

May Christ come quickly and not delay

to bring peace, joy, hope, and love to our world

and those most in need.

Through Christ our Lord.

Advent Prayer

(for meals and other times)

Come Lord Jesus! Maranatha!

All-powerful God,

look kindly on us

as we await the coming of the Christ.

Bless our homes,

and unite us to all people everywhere

who wait for the coming of your Son Jesus Christ.

Help those who will go hungry this day.

May this season bring peace, comfort and joy

as we share our love with everyone.

Come Lord Jesus! Maranatha!

5th Grade Parents-We Need YOU!

We are asking that each family (mom, dad, grandma, etc.) choose at least two days to volunteer each time slot being 11:15 am-12:50 pm. There are many, many time slots open! We are so grateful for the help!

This is a great way for you to interact with your child and his/her classmates during the school day! Recess Volunteers should arrive to school at 11:10 and check in at the office. Duties will include supervising students at recess, escorting the students to and from the school doors. Volunteers will be with one school staff member each day to help direct.

Remember that after your two volunteer time slots, you are done for the year, as each month is assigned to a different grade.

COVID-19 Volunteer Protocol: all recess volunteers are required to wear a mask and complete the Visitor Self-Screening form when they arrive at school.

Thank you again for your time and service to the students and teachers of SPB! Simply click on the following links to sign up: Grade 5
