Belmont Elementary: A PAWSitive Place to Learn!

Sending a Sincere Thank You to all Veterans and Active Duty Military Personnel

It is with deep appreciation that we wish every veteran or active military personnel in our extended Belmont community a wonderful Veterans Day. Thank you!

"This nation will remain the land of the free only so long as it is the home of the brave." -Elmer Davis

So THIS is Super Cool!

Our counselor, Natalie Arbaugh, has been busy working with every Belmont Bulldog since the beginning of the year, at least one hour (sometimes more) each month through classroom guidance counselling! Most 1st-5th grade students were recently introduced to a new district resource; the “Calming Corner” app. Miss Arbaugh taught them that it's a tool they can utilize to help them self-regulate to return to the green zone; where we all learn best. It includes a variety of breathing videos, calming music, puzzles, animals at play, relaxing videos and mindful coloring. If you want to explore the resource at home, you should be able to explore the page with any Google account. Click here to check it out! Ahhhh! Relaxing is good!

World Kindness Day is Sunday, November 13

Picture Retake Day is Tuesday!

If you would like to have your child's school picture retaken, and you've purchased a packet, you'll need to return the packet on Tuesday! If you'd like to make sure that your child is in line to smile for the camera, please email Shelly McCann at smccann@usd232.org.

From the Health Department:

The transition to chillier weather often comes hand-in-hand with cold and flu season, but healthy habits can help protect everyone from getting or spreading germs. As we enter cold and flu season, we appreciate you encouraging these healthy habits with your children.

  • If you have a child who is sick, we ask for your support by keeping them at home. Students and staff must be fever-free for 24 hours without the use of medication, and free of vomiting and/or diarrhea for 24 hours before returning to school.

· If your student is diagnosed with Influenza (“the Flu”) or with COVID, they must remain at home for 5 days from the onset of illness, with return on day 6.

  • If you have questions about your student’s health, please contact your school nurse. Additional information regarding health and wellness is available on the district website.
  • Remind your child of important preventative measures for any illness, such as coughing into the sleeve, frequently washing hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds and getting plenty of rest and fluids.

As you know, the health and safety of our students and staff is a top priority. Our school staff will continue to stress preventative measures, and our custodial staff will continue to follow appropriate cleaning procedures to ensure common areas shared by students and points of high contact are disinfected. Thank you for your support.
