Mensaje de la Directora
Semana del 4 al 8 de marzo
Read Across America week went great! Thanks to our HOLA PFC for organizing another great week full of guest readers and books of the day and themes. Our HOLA Jets loved the readers and the spirit days!
Our next MDUSD Teacher in Service Day is Monday, March 11. There is NO SCHOOL or AFTER SCHOOL that day.
Please remember that there is a reason why we have a rope and cones in the Staff parking lot. Please park your car in the adjacent parking lot - which it belongs to us, not to Kidango, to park safely and pick your kids up. Remember, cars driving through the staff parking can hit students, parents picking up their kids. Safety is our first priority. Follow the rules. Thanks in advance.

Help our 5th graders go to Outdoor Education!
The Pigeon Point Outdoor Science Education program offers a unique opportunity for students to learn more about themselves as well as the natural world that surrounds them. The Pigeon Point curriculum, aligned with CA State Standards, focuses on three strands: Nature Appreciation and Understanding, Cooperation and Teamwork, Citizenship and Empowerment. These themes are taught through a variety of activities and locations. Daytime activities include: tide pooling at the Pigeon Point Lighthouse, beach and coastal ecosystem exploration, Año Nuevo State Reserve / Elephant seal tours, ,marine mammal observation and Redwood forest discovery hike.
Overlooking the ocean, students will stay at the historic Pigeon Point Lighthouse hostel, learning about the intricate life of tide pools, the near extinction of the Elephant seals, and the rich cultural history of the San Mateo coast. We need your help to be able to pay for the school bus that will take our 5th grade students on this edu-rich experience. Without your support, our students will miss out on such a spectacular opportunity. We have put all efforts to fundraiser for the cost of student attendance, now we are asking for your support to help us reach our transportation cost.

THANKS>>>>
Did your students have fun with Read Across America Week?
Please let's all give kudos and so much thanks to all of the parents who read in the classrooms throughout the week...this was really fun for the students! Some of the readings were scheduled by PFC and some parents took the initiative to schedule this directly with the teachers, so we don't want to miss anybody by naming names here. If you read it was appreciated, you have our thanks....cheers to HOLA Parents!!
A great big thanks goes out to Melanie Ropelato for planning the daily schedule and facilitating the "book" worm contest.
Finally, there was cake. Kathie Alcorn, Marcella Bustamante, Mabel Ventriglia and Sara Zoccoli with a special appearance by the Cat in the Hat (Jennifer Sylvestre) made this happen. So much appreciation to all of you!
Overall… we hope that the activities of the week sparked an interest in new books and reading for your students. Oh and stay tuned...the "Holbrook Recommends" book list is coming soon!!
