SETTING UP CANVAS: link provides steps on how to set up a parent account on Canvas
Please be sure to encourage your child to advocate for his- or her- self at school, as this will prepare them for high school.
We are going to be breaking the health unit tests down from now on. Instead of testing on a unit, which covers three chapters, we are going to test after each chapter. Students received a study guide last week for part 2. They will be taking part 2 of the health test this week Tuesday and Wednesday. See link below for studying.
ILA Classes
Stems: Students can practice on cram.com, Quizlet.com, or studystack.com by searching wwtw.
Read 180: Students will complete a project on The Giver . Students should be reading 20 minutes per night.
Story: Students will learn the strategy "notice and note" and learn background knowledge for the historical fiction unit.
Glassman: Students will continue the historical fiction unit and should be reading their novels at home.
System 44:
- Students will be continuing to work on "Guilty until proven innocent"

In Algebra I plan to quiz chapter 6, sections 3-5, on Tuesday. We will then move on to exponential decay.
In 8th grade Math, we will start chapter 5. We will be solving systems of equations by graphing and by substitution.
Laufer:
Test on Monday (today). We will be starting chapter 5, solving systems of equations by graphing and substitution.
For math tests and quizzes students should prepare by:
1. Check Skyward. Are all assignments in and passing?
2. Practice tests and quizzes from each section in the book.
3. Review pages at the end of the chapter in the book

Sternig:
All students have access to IXL to practice their math skills. Each class has different skill sets and skill levels to be working towards improvement. See link below.
1st Hour: Mid-chapter test on Monday, finish on Tuesday if needed. Work on estimating decimal sums and differences.
3rd Hour: Quiz on Tuesday on 2.5-2.7. Continue working on dividing fractions.
9th Hour: Quiz 3.10-3.11 on Tuesday. Chapter test on Friday. Following week moving into multiplying decimals.
PLTW Science
Project Lead the Way rotates quarterly so..... if your child had Mrs. Miller they move to Mr. D. If they had Mr. D they move to Mr. Peacy and if they had Mr. Peacy they rotate to Mrs. Miller. Welcome!!!!
Mr.Peacy:
Chemical Engineering is the topic of the week. Labs will be done to illustrate the physical change taking place when making ice cream from scratch. We will also be making different types of glue from scratch to illustrate adhesion and cohesion.
Mrs. Miller's:
PLTW Oleary Miller will be working to develop a powtoon presentation on their selected career. Presentations will be Thursday & Friday.
Social Studies- U.S. History
Mrs. Miller: We are finishing up 8.1 this week. There will be a quiz on 8.1 on Wednesday. Please use the appropriate study guide below.
Mrs. Paulson:
We will be taking a quiz on 8.1 on Tuesday. We will continue working on our map activities, vocabulary, and comparing the Virginia Plan to the New Jersey Plan at the end of the week.
