Carver Elementary Coyote Newsletter
December 2021
Dear Families,
We are excited to announce we will be starting a new program during lunch called Try it Tuesday. Once a month, we will be offering samples of a fruit or vegetable that corresponds with the colors of the rainbow.
On December 14th, we started with the color purple. The students will have an opportunity to taste purple plums and purple grapes. Our goal is to introduce new flavors or textures that the students may not be familiar with. Each student will also receive a coloring and fact sheet that they can color and give to their teacher. All colored pictures will then be hung up in the cafeteria in the shape of a rainbow.
Our goal is to familiarize your student with fruits and vegetables of different colors and educate them on any specific nutrient and health benefits in a fun way.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Theresa Vernazarro our Director of Food Services. Have a wonderful holiday season.

This is where you will find your student’s Report Card. Once Report Cards are ready for distribution, they are published by school staff. You will receive an email from Aspen that tells you that your student’s report card is ready to view. Go to the Published Reports Section, and you should see all the students you are a contact for and access their report card.

Being Prepared for Outdoor Recess
It is officially winter and we need your help to ensure that children get outdoors for fresh air, exercise and play as long as it is safe to do so. Please help us by ensuring that children have the proper outdoor gear. If they do not have the proper gear to play outside, students may need to remain inside to enjoy a book or engage in a brain break. Also, please be aware that we have plenty of outdoor equipment, playground balls and other games that the students can access for recess. There is no need for students to bring in any of their own play equipment.

Music In The Morning With Ms. Krampf
Music is an aural art form. The development of good listening skills is crucial to the development of musicianship. However, good listening skills are essential for a child to be successful in any subject area. Every morning between 8:20-8:25 a selection of classical music will be played over the school intercom. A brief script will be read about the composer and some of the musical features. The students will listen to the music to learn musical concepts such as tempo, instrumentation and dynamics. But most importantly, this will greatly enhance the quality of life and learning in school. If you would like to listen along at home email Ms. Krampf for selections!
SPOTLIGHTING OUR KIND STUDENTS AT CES!
The theme at CES this school year is "Above All Be Kind." Students are being challenged to be the "I" in Kind. Teachers will nominate students who have gone above and beyond to demonstrate kindness to others. From recent nominations, the following 5 students have been selected to showcase in this newsletter.
Cafeteria News
All Student breakfast and lunches are free again this year until 6/30/2022.
Milk by itself is an a la carte item and is not free. It is $.60. If a student brings a lunch from home and forgot a drink, they may purchase milk for .60 or filtered water is available in all cafeterias for them to fill up their water bottles.
If students bring their lunch from home they can supplement their lunch with free, healthy options. To qualify, students must select three of the five offered components, and one of those must be a fruit or vegetable. Please note, milk is not free by itself.
Pick 3 Free! Add a fruit, veggie and milk for FREE!
All students need their ID# and must enter their number into the POS system this year.
