Welcome to West!
Let Me Introduce Myself...
My name is Mrs. Thompson and I am a 7th grade special education teacher at West. In addition to co-teaching Early World History, I am your child's "teacher of record" for the 2013-2014 school year. This means that I will be in contact with you during the school year as needed for paperwork, progress monitoring, and if there are any concerns. I look forward to getting to know your child this year.
10th Period Homebase/Flex
Because your student is on my caseload, they will be with me the 10th period of the school day. 10th period is held on most days but occasionally when there is not a typical schedule, it is not held. Being new to the Junior High, you might not be aware of what the last period of the day is for. This is a time that students can work on homework with guidance, receive remediation if they are struggling, or continue to receive instruction.
During 10th period I have 4 simple expectations for students to follow because this time is very important in their education.
- Bring your materials with you
- Work independently and to the best of your ability
- Ask for help
- Follow any special teacher directions for the day
