Center Township Weekly Update
September 23, 2022
Greetings CT Families!
We’ve had a FANTASTIC week! The whole student body “soaked” up SOAR the first few weeks of school as they learned what it means to SOAR in all of the areas of our school and on the bus. Six students who demonstrated SOARing behavior were then randomly selected to choose a staff member to be SOAKed by the Unionville Fire Department in front of the whole school. The fire department was called out to a house fire minutes before the event. Plan B turned out to be even more fun! The six SOARing students soaked the staff instead!! The entire student body cheered and watched on.
Mrs. Daubenspeck was first.
Mrs. Mato's own student chose her!
Mrs. West's floaty didn't keep her dry.
Mrs. Gallo tried many layers.
Mrs. Cherry was totally soaked.
Mr. Baxter's in his stylish gear.
What’s New?
- NOW that our students know how to SOAR, we are now looking for and recognizing SOARing behaviors. Students will have the ability to earn two types of tickets. Blue tickets will be used to recognize SOARing behaviors every day in the classrooms. The Golden Ticket can be given by any staff member to any student who is SOARing. Only 10 of these are given out each day. Since Golden Tickets are harder to earn, these are the key to what we call the SOAR 200 club. After earning a golden ticket, the student will be given a random spot on our SOAR 200 Club board. Once we have a bingo of ten names in a row these students are announced and have the opportunity to select a piece of SOAR merchandise. The bingo board is then cleared and we start over.
- Exciting news! Our school is participating in Kinsa’s FLUency™ school health program. Our school nurses have a limited number of free smart thermometers, so please reach out to Lynn Zidek at lynn.zidek@basdk12.org to request one for your family!
Reminders
Please remind your child(ren) to keep their electronic devices (cell phones, watches, etc.) on airplane mode while in class.
School picture day is this Thursday, September 29th.
Students are able to have a school lunch any day that they choose by entering their PIN number at the register. The student’s account will then be automatically charged for a full-price lunch if the family has not submitted a free and reduced lunch application. Please see the resources below for more information about the lunch program and free and reduced lunch application.
We’re looking forward to more great things this week to come!
