Moving Down Hill!
Team Columbia:
Now that Spring Break is over, we are truly moving down hill. These last seven weeks will go by really quick. Hold on tight. Let's finish strong. We have two major state assessments in April. These assessments are very important as that they are the key to getting us off the failing school's list.
The State Department of Education has decided to discontinue the ACT Aspire after this year. What that means for Columbia is that if we don't get off the list this year, we will be stuck on the list for three to four years. The state will replace the ACT Aspire with another assessment that will have to be normed for two to three years before it is actually counted.
Let's really encourage our 10th and 11th grade students to take these assessments seriously. This would include the mock assessment and the study seminars that we have planned. Continue to work your departmental plans and expose our students to ACT Aspire and ACT Plus Writing questions.
Enjoy this week of teaching and learning!!!
