Dealey Dragon Update

September 30, 2019

Dear excellent Dragon Families,

Dr. Montessori said "True Peace suggests the triumph of justice and love among men; it reveals the existence of a better world."

Last week we celebrated Dealey's designation as an International Peace Site with student music, speakers, and art work. The proclamation (see photo below for text) written and presented by Dealey parent, Judge Valencia Nash-McShann recognizes Dealey's leadership in academia and environmental engagement and calls student and our community to continued action to promote Peace.

On Saturday, I had the opportunity to visit the Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum with Ms. Smith and several 8th grade students and parents. This excursion supported the novel study and theme in 8th grade ELAR. Carol Pinker, Cade Roseman’s maternal grandmother, was our guide. She presented a gripping history of the genocide in Western Europe that spread to an astounding and tragic scale. While this museum is not age appropriate for all of our students, the museum provides other age appropriate outreach and educational materials that could be a useful resource in our commitment to Peace Education. To learn more about the museum, please see

It feeds my soul to be a part of a community the believes in and works toward a better world.

Have a great week!

Faculty Spotlight: Congratulations to Ms Moschioni, Dealey's Teacher of the Year

This week’s Faculty Spotlight is dedicated to Mrs. Moschioni, the teacher of the year, who has contributed 20 years of her life to Dealey and has enjoyed her time here immensely.

Ms. Moschioni has always been a great and responsible teacher and the fact that she gets here at 7:30AM and leaves at 5:00PM shows her tremendous commitment to her students' learning.

Former students who were in Mrs. Moschioni’s class say that they have always loved her way of teaching and have always felt loved in her class. Ms. Moschioni has played a big role in our school and will always leave great memories and legacies here at Dealey.

In Mrs. Moschioni leisure time, she adores to bake, solve puzzles, and make quilts. When we asked her why she has devoted her time here at Dealey for so long. She responded with, "Being here makes me happy. Also, the staff and students here are a big family.”

Every year since 1999, Ms. Moschioni takes more and more steps to help her students learn about self-awareness and how to be conscious of their surroundings.

She will always play a special role here at Dealey and will always be in our hearts.
