Homework Poem
Homework comes and homework goes.
I like doing Math by counting my toes.
My Science project is watching T.V.
To see just how hypnotized I can be.
In Reading my teachers will soon discover
I don't even read comic books cover to cover!
Spelling is all about syllables and sound.
In the Bee I stand... then sit right back down.
Music is my best subject by far.
I turn up the radio and sing in the car.
In P.E. I jump and run and roll,
but too much exercise can take its toll!
So at home I sit, a potato on the couch,
and if I don't get my way I become a grouch.
I've become quite lazy, if you must know.
Even friends say this isn't the way to go.
Can you in these rhyming lines
see yourself at certain times?
Then come a little closer and lend me your ear.
Now that I'm grounded for what seems like a year!
Because I wasn't responsible and didn't do things rightly,
I got talked to and lectured at almost nightly.
So to give teachers and parents (and yourself) some peace,
do your homework each night or your woes will increase!
